  • What Are The Best/Worst "Labels" A Prospect Can Have?

    can be playing ability/intangibles

like limited upside, questionable character, etc.

just wondering what you guys think

    always think about it myself

imo, bad workout is the worst

Although high motor/great intangibles is obviously a positive, for whatever reason, it often has a negative connotation. Not in all cases, but when I hear those together it often means productive college player but not athletic enough for the next level.

I think non-stop motor is probably the best label for any prospect, while lazy or takes plays off is the worst.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to CC.SD again.

                    Yep... nods head.

Elite athlete, great timed/game speed, smart, excellent intangibles, immediate impact and college performance are all pretty much positives.

Props to BK on the sig!

Undersized. That one kills great players.

If Brandon Graham was 6'5", 280 lbs, with 38 inch arms, he'd be the #1 pick. Guaranteed.

Conversely, lots of teams will take chances on players who have "prototypical" size (or better than that). Jason Pierre-Paul, for example. (I'm not listing Bruce Campbell, because Al Davis is insane)

edit: Racial stereotypes too, as much as we hate to admit it.

                          Some that I like:

                          Good
                          -Very tough, aggressive and competitive
                          -Leader
                          -Instinctive

                          Bad
                          -Durability is a major concern
-Just an average burst and isn't particularly explosive
                          -Questionable desire
                          -Uncoachable (the worst)

                            Positive:

                            Fluid Hips

                            Negative:

Best: high motor guy, instinctive, violent playing style.
