  • 2011 Sleepers

Almost every year there's one or two guys from underlooked schools who catch scouts and draftnik's eyes with impressive performances during the season and even more impressive workouts in the post-season and eventually get picked early, even in the 1st round (such as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Joe Flacco in 2008 and Mike Iupati in 2010).
So, let's take a look at our top sleeper candidates in the 2011 class.

Dwight Dasher, QB, Middle Tennessee State

    Nathan Enderle, QB, Idaho

    Frantrell Forrest, WR, Alabama-Birmingham

Cecil Shorts III, WR, Mount Union

    Matt Szczur, WR, Villanova

    Jeffrey Anderson, TE, Alabama-Birmingham

    Christian Anthony, DE, Grambling State

    Cedric Thronton, DE, Southern Arkansas

    Adrian Robinson, DE/OLB, Temple

    Mario Addison, DE/OLB, Troy

    Carmen Messina, ILB, New Mexico

    Korey Lindsey, CB, Southern Illinois

    Eugene Clifford, S, Tennessee State

    Benjamin Ijalana OL Villanova

I’m not going to lie, I’ve never seen him play but I know that he has never missed a game at Villanova and that he is overwhelmingly powerful at his level. His size, power and short area quickness make him an ideal guard candidate. He is a poor man's Andre Smith or Shawn Andrews.

Reading, plus it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that a guy that huge and athletic dominates his level.

I love Adrian Robinson. I think he's going to be a very solid pass rusher at the next level. I'm not sure on Szczur, though. If he gets drafted high enough in next week's MLB Draft, he might chose baseball instead.

            Enderle <3

I love me some Cecil Shorts too...what a great name!

I would add Richmond CB Justin Rogers to the list

Adrian Robinson's only a junior, but I could see declaring early if he replicates his '09 production (12 sacks, 14 TFL). He's got a quick first step and good flexibility rushing off the edge - he reminds me a bit of Jermaine Cunningham.

                Adrian Robinson vs. UCLA

Here is a few that come to mind, granted I do not get to see that many small schools play, as for Dasher, never been a real big fan of his, he seems pretty average at best. And Clifford is a Ohio State transfer correct? If we are going transfers Marcus Ball, the former FSU transfer on Memphis is ok but still has a lot of work to do to become a great safety.

                  Charles Clay, Tulsa

                  Randall Cobb, Kentucky

                  Jerrel Jernigan, Troy

                  Virgil Green, Nevada

                  Nick Bellore, Central Michigan

                  James Dockery, Oregon State

                  James Michael Johnson, Nevada

                  Cudahy Harmon, La Tech

I agree with some of the players previously mentioned like Ijalana who IMO is somewhat comparable to last year's Vladimir Ducasse. He's not as strong at the POA that Vlad was but he has better feet.

I'm also a Jeffery Anderson fan as well. I would also watch out for Louisville TE Cameron Graham. He missed a lot of last year with injury but he is super athletic and it will be interesting to see how Charlie STrong uses him this season. If he can prove to stay healthy and put up some decent numbers then he's going to be a mid round pick.

                    Some others that I like:

                    Jason Teague CB Texas Christian

                    Deonte' Jackson RB Idaho

                    Aldrick Robinson WR Southern Methodist

                    J'Courtney Williams LB Liberty

                    BoneKruser with the DOPE sig

Dwight Dasher confuses me, He's a play maker but what is he at the next level? WR or HB?

Neither. I could see Dasher as a Pat White kind of guy.

So if you read all the tales of Carlos Dunlap's physical attributes, would you also assume that he dominates his level?
