  • Predict QB 40-times

This draft seems to be chucked full of more athletic QB's with strong arms than perhaps any draft in history.

As such, how fast do you think guys like Gabbart, Newton, Locker, Kaepernick are? Predict as many as you want, but those seem to be the big-4 athletes with arm strength.

    Locker - 4.5
    Gabbert - 4.55
    Kaepernikc - 4.6
    Newton - NA DNP

If history teaches us anything, especially these last few years it seems, it would be that most players with high expectations fail to live up to them in the 40. Guys in years past who people think will tear it up come in like .2 slower than thought....not sure why, but it seems to be the case.

Given that, I think Locker and Kaepernick will run high 4.5s or low 4.6s, with Gabbert around a 4.7. Newton probably won't run at the combine, but if he does at his pro day, I expect it to be in the 4.5 range. He does have ridiculous burst though, so he'd probably be faster over a shorter course.

Tyrod Taylor may or may not have the fastest 40 time but I'm quite sure he will beat everyone in the agility test.

4.53 40 for Tyrod im projecting

Didn't Vince Young run a 4.67 or something? I remember lots of people thought he was going to run a 4.4.

This is what I referencing in my earlier post. Players always seem to time significantly slower than many would project. We'll see like all-world track athletes show up at the combine and run like 4.45 after being projected in the 4.2s or something...

I'm pretty sure the 4.58 is from his pro day. Not that it really matters. I just remember people thinking that his times were significantly slower than what you'd expect for such a prolific runner. There were a number of less-accomplished quarterbacks in the same draft who ran faster than he did. Like... 5 or 6. But VY was definitely the best runner in that QB class. Similarly, I kinda expect Jake Locker to run faster than Cam Newton, but Newton is still the better open-field runner by far, Locker's freshman season notwithstanding.

Im just interested to see if those rumors of Locker running in the 4.3s are true. Other than that QB 40 Times are only useful for Madden Ratings

No Ponder mentions? I wouldn't be surprised to see him run a sub 4.7, and if nothing else post an outstanding cone time. I think he had the fastest cone time on FSU's team.

And unless Locker has great track form, I don't think he'll run a sub 4.6, atleast he doesnt look thaat fast to me on the field. DOn't see him running by people that much.
