  • Quarterbacks Will Go 1-2 in the Draft

Fairley is flawed, Bowers is hurt, Petersen will end up at safety. The first two picks of the draft will be Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert not necessarily in that order, and not necessarily by Carolina and Denver. But they will be the first players taken.

Love how Fairley is "flawed", yet Gabbert with his dozens of outright flaws is not "flawed".

Gabbert is a couple of years younger than Fairley and his flaws are coachable. Better long term investment.

History sort of shows us that someone will take a QB probably earlier than they should but i dont think it will be one or two. The earliest i think would be the Bengals because listening to David Dunn (Palmer's agent) it sounds like he's out the door. Next up probably would be Tennessee then you have the usual suspects in Washington and Minnesota.

Do we need a new thread every time something pops into someone's head?

It's been in my head for awhile, but I just read Gil Brandt's chat today on nfl.com, and he said that he had Newton and Gabbert rated even at the top of his QB charts, and in a seperate question said that he would recommend Carolina draft a QB with the top pick. So, he basically said the same thing I was thinking.

I just can't see gabbert being that great. I hope he proves me wrong though.

You could probably add Buffalo also, i just dont think Harbaugh will go with a QB that high, his ego to me screams taking a 2nd or 3rd round guy and making him into a star.

Buzz in D.C. is that Buffalo will take a long hard look at Newton.

It's not just the talent level of Newton and Gabbert at work here. The position means a lot, and the way the draft is shaping up. If Carolina does draft a QB, that sets up Denver to auction their pick to another team that wants a QB badly. There are lots of defensive prospects with no clear delineation between them in the top 15 or so. Denver could trade back and still likely get a guy they want. As has been said, there is buzz that Buffalo is keen, so anyone wanting their guy has to move into the #1 or #2 slot to get him. Plus if Buffalo perceives strong interest from elsewhere they may feel compelled to move up themselves. Could be a very interesting draft, first day.

Nope no way that happens. Passing up on elite talent for defense for a QB that might be good is not worth it.

Go Bucs, Josh Freeman is a beast!
