  • jamaal charles 100m result

just saw his 100m sprint. he took 2nd place in the big 12 championship with a time of 10.32 seconds. he looked ENORMOUS compared to all the other sprinters. look for him to have a big year with the added bulk and finally being the #1 RB on the depth chart.

he has in the past, but i think he's limiting his track duties to focus on football.

he's well over the 190lbs he played at last year. he's at least 200-205lbs right now, and that's during track season. i wanna see him at the combine, just to see what he'd run in the 40yd. reported that he's been in the 4.2's in the past.

Yeah, Charles is definitely on the watch list. If he can really go all for football and pack on the pounds, a strong year will likely give him a late 1st-early 2nd round grade.

In the fastest college player thread people mentioned him running a 10.1 and 10.2. So was that just talk or did the size slow him down some?

            That is correct comahan

              10.1, 10.2, 10.3 isnt a huge difference. all depends on weather(wind? rain?)..what track you run on..bad day/good day?

its not the 10.2 talk was very off.

Xavier Carter ran 10.09 or something in 100

10-15 pounds might cost him .2 seconds but its more than likely those were his best times and he runs a 10.3-10.4 on average

the 10.12 was his best time in the 100m. After football season though, he usually loses a little of that bulk that weighs him down. This year though, he packed on more weight. Yeah, and just the reaction time can account for running a mid 10.3 when you can do a 10.2 or better. Gettin off the blocks fast is everything in those championships cause you know everyone there can run really fast once they get going.

It's an excellent time for a collegiate athlete. Xavier Carter is a world class sprinter and top 5 in the world in the 200 meters, and granted he has run a 10.09 on a fast track by the way, but as a professional his average 100 time in pro events in 10.37 and he's a pro, so this is an extremely impressive time, especially considering how much bigger Charles is than the rest of the crowd.

yea im really excited to watch him play next year. he should have a very productive year now that he's added some bulk for the first time.

he really dwarfed the competition with his size. he was GINORMOUS compared to everybody else! i wouldnt be surprised if he played around 210-215lbs when football season gets going, cuz as much bulk as he's added already, he still has to keep his weight on point for track, but that's over with now (not saying he doesn't have to watch his weight for football, but you get what i'm saying). not to mention 10.32 at around 200 poundish is very impressive, since the guy who won (marcus pugh) looked around 170lbs. expect him to explode this upcoming year.

also, he ran a 10.34 in the semifinal heat, so he's pretty consistent in the 10.3 range

He'll be watched closely but everybody knew he was fast. The question is 1) How tough is he, 2) Can he run up the middle and be effective, 3) How much juke does he have, 4) what is his vision like, and 5) how good are his hands in pass receiving. He'll have to answer all those questions before he sees round 1. Last year all he seemed to have was speed but guys can make huge jumps in a year where they get to carry the ball a lot more.
                        And proud of it!!!

I've been very high on him since his sophomore season. He's a special guy, this year he has the chance to really put up a show, Texas will rely a lot on him.

he really doesnt have alot of shiftiness and he doesnt juke or cut or dance around in the backfield like a RB his size usually does, which might have been to his detriment due to his lack of strength. the bulk that he's added will be put to good use. he has solid hands in the passing game. his vision is adequate and he gets to the outside with ease and is a terror in the open field. should see alot more of him going up the middle this season. he used to rely on getting to the outside or running through open holes, but now he doesnt have to rely on the OL creating huge holes for him when he can just power through smaller openings with his speed and added bulk/strength
