No. We basically told him to look around. It was due to him having a bad attitude and work ethic IIRC.

    • I honestly wish Turner luck at WVU, but he's got a long way to go before he's effective. He really needs to get his act together. When he left he was completely out of shape and it really affected his speed, which wasn't great to begin with. Also consider that he was practicing with the third team defense, which is shocking considering how terrible our secondary is. Most U-M fans thought he'd get his act together before the season and claim our nickle corner back spot, but we'll never know.

"It was probably relative to depth chart issues, he didn't feel he was getting the starting nod and he felt he deserved it," said Jeske. "When I spoke with him in some length back in late June he made a comment that coming out of the spring he was running with the ones...it was his job and he had won the job."

            • He'll probably end up at safety at WVU (just a thought, I haven't heard anything to actually think that's happening), which is probably where he should have been in the first place.

I think Michigan wanted him to move to safety, but a combination of a lack of depth at corner and Turner believing that he was a corner through and through left him at corner. It's somewhat reminiscent of Steve Schilling insisting that he was a tackle until he got his **** pushed in by nearly every DE that faced him, culminating in Vernon Gholston's jailsexing.

well reports I've read say that he looked good at CB in practices last year as he started to digest the playbook. The problem was once they got to spring ball, he was just too big, and couldn't move well to be a CB. I also heard he balked at the idea of playing safety while Cam Gordon, whom wanted a chance to play WR but knew if he went to Michigan he probably would never be a WR, has not only embraced the role of safety, but has flourished. Combine that with Vlad Emilien and Marvin Robinson's work ethics/talents, and Coach Rod's love for Jordan Kovacs and you have a player on the outs.

                  • Apparently Austin White is leaving Michigan as well. I can't find any confirmation, but some guys on Mgoblog that are usually accurate are saying he's left the team.

EDIT:And now maybe not? He might have changed his mind. I'm not sure where this is ending up.

If they land Jordan Haden, they could be a pretty decent team in a year or two.

According to various reports, former Alabama Crimson Tide freshman linebacker Alfy Hill (6-4, 245 from Shallotte, NC) is applying to enter school at East Carolina University.

This Alfy Hill to ECU story from the Brunswick Beacon has the most details on this situation including quotes from an assistant coach from his high school team.

The coach talks about Alfy’s decision to go this route and what his role on the Alabama football team was going to be this year as a true freshman.

Hill was deemed a non-qualifier this week after some courses were reassessed by the NCAA and not counted nearly three weeks into preseason camp.

Hill took classes at Alabama in the summer and according to Nick Saban, did well. He also participated in summer workouts.

As soon as the ruling came down, Hill was taken off of the 105-man roster and replaced with planned grayshirt, TE-Harrison Jones.

Alfy Hill is a talented, athletic physical freak that fit the bill of what Alabama has been looking for in a Jack LB/Rush DE in this defense. Many fans were as excited to see Hill on the field as any other players in the 2010 class.

                          • Former 4* WR Shaquelle Evans is transferring from ND. Apparently, he's none too happy at losing out to Tai-ler Jones(starter) and Duval Kamara(2nd string) for play time. According to the depth chart ND just released today, he's nowhere in the 2 deep, and Robby Toma, a 3*, has made it. That's gotta hurt.

Wish the kid the best, but he needs to quit feeling entitled and just bust his ass. No one is going to hand him a starting role.
