  • Who would you say are FSU's key players this year?

Bradham already? Maybe Patrick Robinson? Definitely Ponder.

We definitely need a WR to establish themselves with what has happened the last season and a half. Preston Parker is apparently headed to Northern Alabama after being released from the team. A lot of character concerns at that position the last couple years. If you're looking for a playmaker on offense look at Bert Reed at WR. Speedy kid. You mentioned Ponder. There's a standout left guard in Hudson along the line. They're defense is gonna have to step it up with the loss of Rolle. Their linebackers are pretty young so I can't give you a sure fire key player. I like two guys on the DL in Justin Mincey and Markus White. One of them could have a real big breakout year.

Nigel Bradham could be huge. He was a 5 star recruit so hopefully he plays like it.

Ponder is a key player for us, but IMO, he'll massively disappoint. He has terrible accuracy and average arm strength, put that with bone-headed mistakes and you have Ponder. Sometimes, I seriously wonder how he is able to play at a school like FSU, hell, was able to be the starter in HS. a lot of his throws are god awful and if we had a better QB last year, we win the acc. I don't understand what people see in Ponder, he's horrible. The only thing he's good for is running. He's not a natural passer at all, and sometimes it looks like we stuck a WR at QB. Hopefully I'm wrong, because that would mean FSU has a good season, but that's just my thought on Ponder.

Next season, we'll need Markus White to have a big impact, Bert Reed, Nigel Bradham, and hopefully one of the freshman like Greg Reid and Willie Downs steps up.

I'd put Rix ahead of Ponder, but hopefully he's improved drastically or this could be another long season.

I dunno who FSU is gonna play at QB, Ponder is awful but absolutely thrashed us on the ground last year. I'd say if they can get something from Ponder, they'll be a very scary team.

Also, Jermaine Thomas and Markus White. The entire OL needs to continue to grow. They will have a tough test with our DL on Labor Day, that will be a good indicator.

Offensively, the offensive line is the strong point. We have a good core of guys who are putting their work in. Christian Ponder is going to have to be huge this season. He only had three turnovers in the spring, so hopefully he is reading the defenses better.

The running backs should be another strength as we get Tavares Pressley back and we have Lonnie Pryor and Chris Thompson coming in. The backs had trouble with fumbles in the spring, so wrapping up the football is crucial.

The receivers, next to Christian Ponder, need to step up the most. Hopefully Taiwan Easterling will be back for fall practice. Bert Reed is now an outside receiver and will need to step up. Jarmon Fortson had a great spring, as did Louis Givens. We have Willie Haulstead and Rodney Smith coming in, and also have Avis Commack, Richard Goodman, and Cam Wade. The depth is there. Now they need to put it all together.

Defensively, everything will revolve around what kind of pass rush we can generate. Markus White will need to step it up, as will the interior d-line. We don't have much depth on the defensive line, which could be the defense's downfall. Nigel Bradham and Dekota Watson will anchor the linebackers. Nigel Carr also had a good spring. Patrick Robinson will lead the secondary. We lost CJ Mizell and Willie Downs, as they won't qualify due to grades, so that's more depth lost on defense. Look for Greg Reid to push Ochuko Jenijie for the starting corner opposite Robinson. Jamie Robinson will start at Free Safety.

The offense was way ahead of the defense in the spring. We have the weapons offensively to be good, so it will be on the defense in the fall to step it up. I still expect us to be playing for the ACC title.

Rix was better than Ponder. He had a better arm and was a better scrambler. If Chris Rix had a brain to cope with his athletic ability, he would have been a first round pick.

brain is kind of important though for a qb.

idk, i'd rather have ponder. by the time ponder's career at fsu is done, i don't think anybody will think rix was better.

EJ Manuel was the number 2 dual threat QB behind Pryor.

Your so far off about Ponder imo, he didn't have a great year passing last year but your being ridiculously negative. Remember he was only a sophmore last year with the WR's never playing great, his main problem last year was he tried to guide the ball and didn't just let it fly, he'll play better next year if the WR's can stay on the field. But more so than anything is he has top notch intangibles, doesn't get rattled and the team respects him a whole lot. We were down in multiple games the past year and he never panics.

As for the team, Patrick Robinson is an all out stud, he really can be a lock down corner and just missed alot of time last year. The corner opposite him needs to step up. The O-Line is deep, talented and experienced now and should be the strength of the team for the next couple years. The LB corp should be good, Dekoda Watson is a great player in the mold of Ernie Sims. D-Line is an issue and the interior guys need to step up, Markus White at end should have a big year though.

Our main issue though next year is going to be our schedule, we have 10 bowl teams and the only gimme game is Jacksonville State

His passing is god awful. I mean, it's understandable that it was his first year as a starter but from all the hype I expected much more than that mediocre performance. His accuracy was so bad last year. I remember looking at his stats and if you took out all of the "cupcakes" of last year, I don't think he completed over 50% of his passes and had more INT's than TD's.
