  • that's a mighty bold statement for a team that loses Tebow, Spikes, Haden, possibly both safeties, Dunlap, Cunningham, etc. Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia were all decent young teams this year and should be better next year. 2010 should be a rebuilding year for UF, as they don't know what they are gonna be like at QB after struggling a bit in the passing game this past year with Tebow even.

Not to mention the Gators have no true running back. Debose is coming off injury and key recruits may jump ship.

        • Whatever. Janoris Jenkins and Will Hill return. Gators automatically win.

Has nobody seriously heard of John Brantley? Like, ever? He broke all of Tebow's passing records in the state of Florida, has been almost perfect in his mopup duty, and is a much, much, much better pure passer than Tebow. The defense rotates so many linemen and linebackers as is that although certain loses like Spikes, Dunlap, Cunningham, etc. will be big, there are so many experienced guys waiting in the wings.

Okay, people have been playing the no running back card for the last god knows how long. Apparently you don't know enough about Florida football to know that the guys they have are exactly the ones they want? Demps and Rainey have done pretty well for themselves and the Gators in case you haven't noticed. And as for the recruits, I've already heard that Shaw, Powell, Dunkley, Elam, Clark, Christian, etc. have now reaffirmed their commitments/silents.

And look out for Josh Shaw assuming he sticks, which I've heard he will. He should start and even could be better than Janoris Jenkins was in his freshman season.

            • brantley was a heralded recruit, but he is still unproven and inexperienced and will have a tough SEC schedule to face. No way is it a gimme that Florida wins the East next year. Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia most likely will all be better. LSU will for sure as well in the West.

The problem there is when is Mack Brown leaving? Never? Another Bobby Bowden in Austin?

My relatives in Texas emailed telling me that Muschamp has been anointed the official HC in waiting with the biggest asst. salary in D. 1 dependent on his staying there.

Meyer's leave of absence is apparently indefinite per ESPN, he quizzed each family member at Christmas about what to do & his daughters all said he should bail on Florida b/c they think the job will kill him with a heart attack, & they are confirming what his doctors told him. So he reneges on that 24 hrs. later saying he doesn't want to coach anywhere but the U. of Florida. Are they going to hold the $4m/yr. job open for him indefinitely? IDTS.

I mean I agree with you for the most part but let's be realistic, we aren't a slam dunk next year. We have to replace both coordinator positions, WR's HAVE to step up, replacing Hernandez, the Pouncey's, Tebow, etc won't be a "plug in 5 star recruit" and keep it moving. Next year to me is a 3 loss season at the most. Also we need more from our DT's, they (besides Omar Hunter occasionally) didn't do anything this season.
