One of the guys I knew in HS got a scholarship to play at Bob Jones University. He left before the first semester was over, it was pretty terrible he says.
EDIT: I forgot to add this story, he said that he was required to wear slacks and a button every day and if people wore, say, a polo shirt instead, people would walk up to him and ask him to leave campus or go change.
I mean, if the "allegations" are true, Unga knew what he was getting into by committing to BYU. Thus, it's hard not to place the blame entirely on him. If he really wanted to have sex he could've just gotten married like half the team does.
In his defense, he might not have planned for this. People change as time goes on. Perhaps when he committed, he was fine, and as far as he could see there wasn't going to be a problem.
Then he met a girl he didn't plan on meeting way back on signing day. Things change. **** happens.
That's the problem with situations when things are suddenly set in stone like that. It doesn't always allow for that growing process most young people go through to fully complete itself, and it doesn't usually allow for the inevitable mistakes and/or unplanned events that are made(like this) to go through with themselves.
The maturation process is assumed to have ended as soon as they sign on, and the individuals are just assumed to have everything squared away emotionally, sexually, etc,. The problem is that for many(probably a large majority, actually), there is a long way to go.
