      • This is good news to me, which means the Big Ten that has 12 teams will stay as well. Just as grandpa BF said. I like this.

Yeah, we'll see if that lasts.

          • That's shocking. I'm pretty OK with it though. I was rooting for the Big XII to stay together. Taking the regional element out of it all is sort of bad for the health of the sport, in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Big East now. I think this could screw them even worse. They were sort of banking on forming a "what's left" conference. If the ACC decides to take still take UConn, it could really get them by the balls.

But really, I don't think this all means very much. These guys will **** each other over in the end if it's best for them. Agreeing and telling reporters is all part of the game.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust UConn once so ever.

                • Did Texas A&M get into the SEC? Are they the 13TH Member?

They applied, and were accepted by the SEC. But Baylor is either suing or threatening to sue A&M for leaving the Big 12.

                    • I take the Pac-12's statement with a huge grain of salt. Seems odd they would go to all this trouble to then vote to do nothing.

                      Who knows, though.

Read a few weeks ago the director was against expansion. But these things are very fickle.

until a conference actually comes out and says they are willing to add a school, all this is nonsense pushed by news outlets looking for hits and hoping to "break" a story by reporting anything and everything. they've realized that people don't hold journalists accountable for ****** work.

                          • Pac 12 just saved the day.

With A&M and Missouri going to SEC, the Big 12 has to replace 4 teams if they want 12. I honestly think adding TCU, WVU, Cincy, and Louisville from the dying Big East would form a pretty interesting group.

Take UConn and Rutgers to the ACC, and only South Florida is left out of the conferences.

Gives us 16 team ACC, 14 team SEC, 12 in the Big 12, Big 10, and Pac.

Thanks to The Dynasty for the sig

That wasn't the full quote from what I understand. The USA Today was reporting that 2 or 3 schools still said they are going to do what's best for them in the long run.

One official in the Big East who requested anonymity said that was not an accurate assessment of the sentiment in the room. The official said league schools are committed to recruiting more schools but did not make any pledge to remaining in the league until it's clear what the league will look like.
The official also said about four or five of the Big East schools are committed to keeping the league together, but the other two or three need to know where the league is headed before a firm commitment is made.

                              • It'll be interesting to see what schools want to stick around and the ones who don't. I can't imagine Rutgers and UConn want anything to do with sticking around in whatever is left of the Big East when the dust settles.

But yeah, I'm with BF51, all this "stability" talk just seems like a way of buying a few more weeks/months to think things through while calming down the rampant media speculation. Possible that they really want to keep it a west-coast type conference and stop expanding into the southwest, but we'll have to see. Maybe something went bad with Texas/the Longhorn Network at the negotiating table with the Pac 12.
