  • 3 Rounder w/ FA w/ Trades

as you will notice i only really did the FA's that i thought were bigger impact players on the draft. theres obviously still lots of other FA's out there and if a big name FA isnt listed its because i think hes either being franchised or resigning. i didnt post comments on the draft because its already a long read but im more than willing to comment on any questions you may have. i also only did trades in the draft involving moving up or down in the first round. so dont comment saying id rather trade down with your 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Birds won't take a QB in the first day after spending a 2nd rounder on Kolb last year.

If the Vikes are planning on spending a first on a skinny WR that has a huge chance of being a bust, I'd rather trade it away for Roy Williams and a late rounder.

1st pick for Oakland is good.
            2nd pick is bad.

Cardinals are set at DT, we have great depth and talent there, Dockett, Watson, Brach, Smith, Tafoya, no way we waste a 1st on it. Give us Mendenhall there

                Good pick in the 2nd

Steve Slaton is a J.J. Arrington clone, we have no need for him and should probably look for someone to replace Arrington so we can cut him, Choice or Forte would be much better options, or if we take a RB in the 1st give us Devin Thomas, great value there and he can take over for Bryant Johnson

Ehh...not a huge fan of the Patriots draft. I don't think Derrick Harvey is a good pick, as Vrabel and Thomas are MUCH better suited outside. Would prefer someone like possibly a Jeff Otah, Aqib Talib there. Otah is a good fit because Nick Kaczur is an average RT and Otah might be better at RT than left. Talib is a good pick because he's a zone corner who supports the run unlike Rodgers-Cromartie, and we lose Samuel in your free agency.

Flowers is a good pick considering. Otah in the first and Flowers in the second would be nice value. However, Antoine Cason is higher rated for me and better in zone coverage, so I'd prefer him. Jamaal Charles is a decent pick - good value. Heath Benedict is good as well, but I like Tony Hills better personally, and that might just be me. Earl Bennett is a good value.

I was thinking of Balmer more as a DE for you guys. i think youll see him weigh in at the combine around 290. he has the speed, athleticism, and explosiveness to play on the outside and if he cut down to 285 i think he could be a monster.

the slaton and jj comparison makes sense. ill keep that in mind though i dont put much stock in arrington anyway.

i agree that vrabel and thomas are both suited better outside but i went with harvey because i feel like you guys have to start looking at the future at some point. vrabel will be 33 next year and thomas 31. vrabel will perform much better when he is fresh so i think a rotation would be great for him and in a couple years when he retires you have a guy in harvey to step in a full time role. with the depth at corner in the draft and the top 2 off the board i think harveys playmaking ability and potential gives him the nod as well.

i was torn between cason and flowers. i went with flowers simply because i thought you needed a more physical corner.

Great trade and 1st pick for the Birds!
I have a problem with a couple of the later picks though:
                            1...J. Stewart - Great
                            2...S. Baker - OL (a need) Good
2...J. Flacco - QB (Not as much a need as everyone thinks, But with Woodson still on the board? I don't think so.) Not so Good
2...T. Laws - DT (Good player, but not a need. Rather have Mayo MLB here.)
3...T. Thomas - CB ( Early Doucet is still on the board at this point?) F

All in all, your FALCONS mock is Just OK. I'm not excited about preseason off this draft.

I am a little confused as to why the Patriots would focus so much early attention on the offense, especially RB/WR and OL. I just don't see it going down this way.
