  • Something Different Mock

After hearing the rumors of McNabb to the Rams, I wanted to do a mock with that. I have a couple of other trades in here. I'm sure there are picks that are questionable. I believe 3 QBs will go in Rd 1, I believe someone will trade back into the first rd this year, things like that.

I only posted notes on a few picks, but will add more ....

    Round 1

1 Rams DT - Ndamukong Suh - Nebraska
Rams trade #33 for McNabb and S Atogwe
After trading for McNabb, the Rams secure their number 1 rated player and solidify their Dline

2 Lions OT - Russell Okung - Oklahoma State
Lions need to protect their franchise QB and Okung is the best LT in this draft

3 Bucs DT - Gerald McCoy - Oklahoma

4 Redskins QB - Sam Bradford - Oklahoma
if Bradford falls and Okung is gone, I feel this is the pick even tho I don't like it

5 Chiefs OT - Brian Bulaga - Iowa

6 Seahawks RB - CJ Spiller - Clemson
Carroll gets his version of Reggie Bush. Hawks need a playmaker to strike some fear in the NFC West. They can wait on Oline with their scheme and coaches

7 Browns DB - Eric Berry - Tennessee

8 Raiders OT - Trent Williams - Oklahoma

9 Bills QB - Jimmy Clausen - Notre Dame
Clausen would be a good fit on the Bills, he has the ability to take control of this offense

10 Jaguars WR - Dez Bryant - Oklahoma State
MJD needs help and Bryant will be a beast in Jax

11 Broncos (from CHI) LB - Rolando McClain - Alabama

12 Dolphins OLB - Sergio Kindle - Texas

    13 49ers CB - Joe Haden - Florida
Top CB won't drop very far

14 Seahawks (from DEN) DE - Jason Pierre-Paul - South Florida
Seahawks need to build their Dline and Paul has all of the potential

15 Giants LB - Sean Weatherspoon - Missouri

16 Titans DE - Derrick Morgan - Georgia Tech

17 49ers (from CAR) OT - Anthony Davis - Rutgers

18 Steelers CB - Kyle Wilson - Boise State

    19 Bengals S - Earl Thomas - Texas
Bengals trade # 21 and #84 to Falcons for #21 to snatch S Earl Thomas
Bengals leapfrog Texans to get Thomas

20 Texans NT - Dan Williams - Tennessee

21 Falcons DE - Brandon Graham - Michigan

    22 Patriots S - Taylor Mays - USC
Belicheck will know how to properly use Mays' skills, he could be a force in this defense

23 Packers OL - Mike Iupati - Idaho

24 Bills WR - Demaryius Thomas - Georgia Tech
Bills trade up w/ Eagles to land WR Thomas (give up 2nd rounder and future 1st)
Bills are active! Chan Gailey coached Megatron at GTech and hopes to have found his v2 for Clausen

25 Ravens TE - Jermaine Gresham - Oklahoma

26 Cardinals OT - Charles Brown - USC

27 Cowboys OT - Bruce Campbell - Maryland

28 Chargers NT - Terrence Cody - Alabama

29 Jets WR - Golden Tate - Notre Dame

30 Vikings QB - Tim Tebow - Florida
Fire away! You know some team is gonna do it. Might as well be the Vikes. Looks like Favre will come back for another year. Groom Tebow, while at the same time use him w/ Percy Harvin for wildcat like at Florida

31 Colts OL - Maurkice Pouncey - Florida

32 Saints DE - Carlos Dunlap - Florida

    Round 2

33 Eagles DE - Everson Griffen - USC
    From Rams

34 Lions DT - Jared Odrick - Penn State
    Lions build the Dline now

35 Bucs WR - Arrelious Benn - Illinois
Bucs get another weapon for Freeman

36 Chiefs OLB - Jerry Hughes - TCU

37 Redskins OT - Vladimir Ducasse - Umass
Skins NEED to add Olinemen in this draft

38 Browns CB - Devin McCourty - Rutgers

39 Raiders DT - Brian Price - UCLA

40 Chargers (from SEA) RB - Ryan Matthews - Fresno State

41 Eagles LB - Daryl Washington - TCU
    from Bills

42 Bucs (from CHI) CB - Patrick Robinson - Florida State

43 Dolphins WR - Brandon Lafell - LSU

44 Patriots (from JAX) RB - Jahvid Best - California

45 Broncos OL - John Asamoah - Illinois

46 Giants DT - Lamarr Houston - Texas

47 Patriots (from TEN) TE - Rob Gronkowski - Arizona

48 Panthers DE - Corey Wootton - Northwestern
Panthers first pick, need to try and salvage their Dline

    49 49ers S - Chad Jones - LSU

50 Chiefs (from ATL) NT - Cam Thomas - North Carolina

51 Texans CB - Kareem Jackson - Alabama

52 Steelers DL - Tyson Alualu

53 Patriots LB - Sean Lee - Penn State

54 Bengals WR - Mardy Gilyard

Gilyard will become the ochocinco successor

55 Eagles OL - Rodger Saffold - Indiana

56 Packers CB - Jerome Murphy - South Florida

57 Ravens DL - Arthur Jones - Syracuse

58 Cardinals OLB - Ricky Sapp - Clemson

59 Cowboys ILB - Brandon Spikes - Florida

60 Seahawks (from SD) WR - Damian Williams - USC

    61 Jets S - Nate Allen - South Florida

62 Vikings NT - Linval Joseph - East Carolina
Big time NT, depth in case their are PED suspensions

63 Colts DE - Alex Carrington - Arkansas State
Colts need depth at DE to help Freeney

64 Browns QB - Colt McCoy - Texas
[b]Browns trade up with Saints for McCoy[b]
Another QB will go in Rd 2. I can see the Browns eyeing McCoy

    Round 3

65 Rams WR - Carlton Mitchell - South Florida
Rams get a weapon for McNabb. Mitchell has WR1 potential

66 Lions ATH - Dexter McCluster - Ole Miss
McCluster slides a bit, but lands in Detoit. He will be a great weapon for Stafford as RB or Slot WR

67 Bucs OT - Jared Velheer - Hillsdale

    68 Chiefs S - Morgan Burnett - Georgia Tech

69 Raiders WR - Jacoby Ford - Clemson
Raiders type of pick. This kids flys and can't drop as many passes as DHB

70 Eagles RB - Toby Gerhart - Stanford
Invincible 2 and can be used to get 3rd and inches

71 Saints OLB - Navorro Bowman - Penn State
    from Browns

    72 Bills DE/OLB - Koa Misi - Utah

73 Dolphins OLB - Thadeus Gibson - Ohio State

    74 Jaguars S - Major Wright - Florida

add a dynamic, receiving TE to pair with Boss

77 Titans CB - Perrish Cox - Oklahoma State

78 Panthers WR - Andre Roberts - Citadel

    79 49ers LB - Eric Norwood - South Carolina

McKnight will flourish in the zone blocking scheme in Houston

82 Steelers OG - John Jerry - Ole Miss

87 Eagles QB - John Skelton - Fordham

88 Cardinals ILB - Donald Butler - Washington

89 Cardinals QB - Tony Pike - Cincy

90 Cowboys WR - Jordan Shipley - Texas

91 Chargers CB - Chris Cook - Virginia
at 6-2 they try and backfill Cro with Cook

92 Saints TE - Dorin Dickerson - Pittsburgh
    from Browns
Shockey can't stay healthy and Dickerson can be a major weapon in this O

93 Vikings CB - Brandon Ghee - Wake Forest

94 Colts DT - Geno Atkins - Georgia

95 Saints RB - Montario Hardesty - Tennessee
not sure if they lost Mike Bell, if so, Hardesty will be the replacement in their 3 headed backfield
Could go Dwyer, but he has dropped on my board due to speed and scheme

96 Bengals TE - Jimmy Graham - Miami
one of my fav. players in this draft. He is going to be a heck of a pro and a true TE for the Bengals

    97 Titans DT - D'Anthony Smith - Louisiana Tech

98 Falcons OT - Ciron Black - LSU

If Arthur Jones is still valued as a second round pick it's great, I just don't know if he's there right now.

Bengals trade # 21 and #84 to Falcons for #21 to snatch S Earl Thomas
      good pick
21 Falcons DE - Brandon Graham - Michigan
      good pick
83 Falcons CB - Dominique Franks - Oklahoma
terrible pick. CB is not a need for the Falcons anymore after the Robinson signing. We NEED an OLB. We get one here.
84 Falcons RB - Jonathan Dwyer - Georgia Tech
yet another horrible pick. we don't need a RB until late if at all. we get a WR or TE here.
98 Falcons OT - Ciron Black - LSU
      good pick

I agree with what you say about Bradford being the pick if hes on the board, especially if Okung is gone and they cant trade down. I do disagree though with drafting Vlad over Saffold. Saffold offeres more versatility at tackle in shannys zbs.

Thanks for the feedback - yeah I tried to keep up with all the FA signings. I will keep in mind OLB/ WR/TE if I do another.

I like the fact that he has a lot of experience, a high motor, and can play in multiple defenses.

I just see him as a Raven styled dlineman. But your right, he probably went a bit high compared to how the Ravens draft BPA.

I love the saints two early picks and the trade, not nuts about the other 2, change one of those to d'antonio smith (or geno atkins) and the other one on rennie curran or dakoda watson (or if you insist a true TE prospect like Jimmy Graham). The replacement for Bell (who is a third RB, hardly vital) is already on the team in Lynell Hamilton.

                  Saints 2014 draft wish list:
                  - No pass rusher till the fourth round (or preferably at all)
                  - Corner or Wideout in the first
                  - No reaching
                  - No Kelvin Benjamin

27 Cowboys OT - Bruce Campbell - Maryland
59 Cowboys ILB - Brandon Spikes - Florida
90 Cowboys WR - Jordan Shipley - Texas

Happy with Campbell. But at 59 if Nate Allen is there we will not pass on him. Especially for a 4th round prospect :P I would be fine with Shipley in the as it would solidify our return game and slot receiver.

However, the Eagles robbed the Rams blind. McNabb can be had for ANY top 42 pick. So the 33 could actually qualify the Eagles passing a late rounder back ... not give them Atogwe as well. Hard to imagine the Bills giving up so much to draft Thomas as well.

I admire trying to throw trades into mocks but more than likely trades end up hurting the credibility.

Not too sure why we took TWO OLB's, but it wouldn't shock me if I did. But I would prefer Jimmy Graham in the 3rd instead.

Dolphins Dream Draft: 1. Jaylon Smith 2. Artie Burns 3. Landon Turner

Love the trade down and the first two picks. But we did't address the needs at DT at all. This class we can get a good RB in the later rounds, so switch the Hardesty to D'Anthony Smith and Idk how to feel about Dickerson.
