  • AK's Post Combine Mock 1.0

    1. Carolina Panthers: DaQuan Bowers - DE - Clemson

    ______________________________________________

    2. Denver Broncos: Nick Fairley - DT - Auburn

    ______________________________________________

    3. Buffalo Bills: Marcell Dareus - DT/DE - Alabama

    ______________________________________________

    4. Cincinnati Bengals: A.J. Green - WR - Georgia

(Note: Green is BPA, and also may entice Palmer to end his retirement threats. No QB needed here.)
    ______________________________________________

    5. Arizona Cardinals: Patrick Peterson - CB - LSU

    ______________________________________________

    6. Cleveland Browns: Robert Quinn - DE - North Carolina

    ______________________________________________

    7. San Francisco 49ers: Von Miller - OLB - Texas A&M

    ______________________________________________

    8. Tennessee Titans: Blaine Gabbert - QB - Missouri

    ______________________________________________

    9. Dallas Cowboys: J.J. Watt - DE - Wisconsin

    ______________________________________________

    10. Washington Redskins: Julio Jones - WR - Alabama

    ______________________________________________

    11. Houston Texans: Prince Amukamara - CB - Nebraska

    ______________________________________________

    12. Minnesota Vikings: Stephen Paea - DT - Oregon State

(Note: Brian Robison just re-signed in a big contract, clearly the Vikings plan on him starting. Frazier has hinted that DT has to be improved, and Paea is a perfect Pat Williams replacement.)
    ______________________________________________

    13. Detroit Lions: Tyron Smith - OT - USC

    ______________________________________________

    14. St Louis Rams: Cameron Jordan - DE - California

    ______________________________________________

    15. Miami Dolphins: Cam Newton - QB - Auburn

    ______________________________________________

    16. Jacksonville Jaguars: Ryan Kerrigan - DE - Purdue

    ______________________________________________

    17. New England Patriots (f/OAK): Cameron Heyward - DE - Ohio State

(Note: Patriots look at pass-rushers here, but there's more depth to be had later in round 1 or 2. The stud 3-4 DEs are much harder to find.)
    ______________________________________________

    18. San Diego Chargers: Aldon Smith - OLB - Missouri

    ______________________________________________

    19. New York Giants: Mark Ingram - RB - Alabama

    ______________________________________________

    20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Adrian Clayborn - DE - Iowa State

    ______________________________________________

    21. Kansas City Chiefs: Anthony Castonzo - OT - Boston College

    ______________________________________________

    22. Indianapolis Colts: Nate Solder - OT - Colorado

    ______________________________________________

    23. Philadelphia Eagles: Jimmy Smith - CB - Colorado

    ______________________________________________

    24. New Orleans Saints: Martez Wilson - ILB - Illinois

    ______________________________________________

    25. Seattle Seahawks: Jake Locker - QB - Washington

    ______________________________________________

    26. Baltimore Ravens: Muhammad Wilkerson - DE - Temple

    ______________________________________________

    27. Atlanta Falcons: Gabe Carimi - OT - Wisconsin

    ______________________________________________

    28. New England Patriots: Brooks Reed - OLB - Arizona

    ______________________________________________

    29. Chicago Bears: Derek Sherrod - OT - Mississippi State

    ______________________________________________

    30. New York Jets: Phil Taylor - DT - Baylor

    ______________________________________________

    31. Pittsburgh Steelers: Brandon Harris - CB - Miami

    ______________________________________________

    32. Green Bay Packers: Ben Ijalana - OT - Villanova

Not a great KC pick. OT isn't a need. It wasn't last year and it isn't this year. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here!

Except for you only have one RT under contract and that player is tendered and is a mediocre player in the first place who is better suited as a swing tackle. Also add in that you ran the ball more times than any other team in the league percentage wise so improving the run blocking is important. Also factor in that Moeaki will be your #2 receiving threat so you need to have someone you trust on the outside so your not forced to keep Tony M in as a blocker. (It's not my fault, someone has been feeding me this propaganda)

      ....

Also Wilkerson is a unique pick for the Ravens but I like it.

        pats

I like your pick at 17 but not at 28. I would prefer any of the other guys you have going later in round one. Reed will be available later I think.

id rather have aldon smith as our OLB of the future. but i agree, i think your scenario is much more likely given how the pats usually draft. looks like you've stolen the dudes from my mock ;)

Thanks to BoneKrusher for this amazing sig!

          Go Gators/Pats/Celts/Red Sox!

One knock I've heard a lot regarding Reed is that he can't shed blocks, which would most likely make him someone New England passes on. Justin Houston might be a better pick there.

I'd be happy with that 1st rd for the Pats.
              I do agree with J.Houston > B.Reed though

I almost gave you guys Justin Houston there, but after the combine I was completely put off of him as a 3-4 OLB by his added weight and how he looked in the drills. Might have been a case of me over-reacting, though.

FWIW, I would have the Patriots taking Wisniewski at #33.

That someone should be strung up by their ankles for all to see. OT still isn't a need. Barry Richardson is developing into a pretty solid RT. He's not great, but he's certainly not awful either.

OT isnt really a 1st round need for the falcons.

Like how you presented your mock withe the logos and combine pictures. I don't like the Saints pick though. We don't have a big need at middle linebacker in the first round. Give us D-Line or outside linebacker please.
