  • my final mock

    1. Oakland Raiders- Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech
There is no doubt about the Raiders needing a quarterback, but they will likely address that need before the draft by picking up Josh McCown from the Lions or somehow obtaining Daunte Culpepper. Either way, Calvin is a canít miss, once in a lifetime prospect who doesnít have nearly the bust factor of Jamarcus Russell. He is clearly the class of the draft, and I canít see Oakland not taking him.

    2. Detroit Lions- Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame
The Lions might trade down, but if they stay at two, they have to take a player whose value merits the number 2 selection. Adams and Landry are possibilities, but I think the pick will be Quarterback Brady Quinn. He is a good decision maker and has good arm strength, which are keys to successfully running Martzís offense. Plus, Jon Kitna is not getting any younger.

    3. Cleveland Browns- Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU
The Browns have said that if Russell falls to number three then he is theirs, and who can blame them? Charlie Frye has been terrible for them so far, and I donít think they can pass on this potential star. Adrian Peterson and Joe Thomas are other options, but they signed Jamaal Lewis and already have enough money invested into their O-line.

    4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
The Buccaneers really want Calvin Johnson, but he doesnít fall to them. They can now go several different ways with the number 4 pick. They could draft someone like Laron Landry, Joe Thomas, or maybe even Adrian Peterson. But if Calvin isnít here, I expect them to take DT Amobi Okoye out of Louisville. Warren Sapp is aging and Booger Mcfarland is gone, so they could definitely use an upgrade here.

    5. Arizona Cardinals- Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin.
If Joe Thomas is left on the board here, he will be the pick. They have too many stars on their offense to not produce; their only problem is their offensive line. Leinart was on his butt too often after plays, and James, usually had contact at the line of scrimmage. Expect Joe to change that.

    6. Washington Redskins- Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson
The Redskins donít pick again until round 5, so I expect them to try to make a move to trade down and get more picks. If they canít, though, I think they will take Gaines Adams. He is the best pass rusher in the draft, and Washingtonís pass rush was terrible last year. Other possibilities are Laron Landry, who would complement Sean Taylor nicely, and Adrian Peterson, who is BPA.

    7. Minnesota Vikings- Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
The Vikings have a dilemma here. Should they take Laron Landry or Adrian Peterson? IMO they canít go wrong, and both will be solid. But Peterson has the potential to be one of the greatest backs of all time. He would be a steal here, his value is around the 3rd or 4th pick. He will form a nice 1-2 punch with Chestor Taylor.
    8. Atlanta Falcons- Laron Landry, S, LSU
The Falcons get the player they want at number 8 in Landry. Their safeties are terrible, and Laron is instantly the best one on the team. They could also pick someone like Jamaal Anderson but Laron Landry fills a need and is a good value.

    9. Miami Dolphins- Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas
Miami has a good defense, but their core defensive players are aging. Reining defensive POY Jason Taylor could potentially be a great mentor for this raw prospect and mold him into a star.

    10. Houston Texans- Levi Brown, OT, Penn State
We all know about Houstonís offensive line troubles. They have put off addressing it so far but they have acquired good core players in Schaub, Green, and Johnson. Now all they really have to do is fix up the offensive line and they should have a playoff caliber offense.

    11. San Francisco 49ers- Adam Carriker, DE/DT, Nebraska
Contrary to popular belief, Bryant Young will not be able to play forever. They need to draft his replacement and they get a great player at pick 11. Their biggest need is a WR but none of them present good value here, so Carriker gets the call.

    12. Buffalo Bills- Patrick Willis, MLB, Ole Miss
Itís not often that an inside linebacker gets drafted so early, but its not often a prospect like Willis comes out. He has great speed, good hands, and is a sure tackler who would be a great Cover 2 MLB. They got rid of London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes so this pick is close to a no brainer.

    13. St. Louis Rams- Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
Laíroi Glover is old and Jimmy Kennedy is nothing to wrote home about. The Rams defense let up over 140 yards per game on the ground. The smart pick here would be Amobi Okoye out of Louisville. He is 19 years old and is the best DT in the draft.

    14. Carolina Panthers- Reggie Nelson, S, Florida
Carolina has two starting safeties that really should be backups. Regie was the leader of a great defense at Florida. He is the epitome of a ballhawk, he always seems to be making plays. He has outstanding athleticism and will start from day one.

    15. Pittsburgh Steelers- Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
Pittsburgh has Taylor, McFadden, and Townsend, but they really donít have one dominant cover cornerback. Leon Hall definitely has the potential to be one. He has great hips and is good in run support. He also is a top ten talent at pick 15.

    16. Green Bay Packers- Marshawn Lynch, RB, Cal
Green Bayís starting running back is Vernand Morency. This makes me laugh. They absolutely have to make this pick if he is there.

    17. Jacksonville Jaguars- Jarvis Moss, DE/OLB, Florida
The Jaguars have a great defense, but it would be even better if they could get consistent pressure on the quarterback. Jarvis Moss is a pass rushing specialist. He also has a knack for making big plays when it matters most. He could potentially move to linebacker as well.

    18. Cincinnati Bengals- Alan Branch, DT, Michigan
The Bengals could go many directions with this pick. They could take a corner like Darrelle Revis, get a linebacker like Lawrence Timmons, or get a DT. The only way I see them taking a defensive tackle is if Alan Branch falls to them. IMO he is a top ten talent and a steal at pick 18. They have decent enough linebackers, and they can address corner in the second round. Sam Adams only had 14 tackles and they need a replacement.

    19. Tennessee Titans- Darrelle Revis, CB, Pitt
The Titans need a corner even if Pacman wasnít suspended. Their need is no desperate. Darrelle Revis reminds me of Jones, but doesnít have any character issues. He is a good value at pick 19 and will eventually form a great Big East duo with Jones.

    20. New York Giants- Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida State
The Giants draft the next LT. Well, maybe not, but he has the potential to be a Hall of Famer despite playing only one year at Florida State. The Giants released both of their starting OLBís, so it is a huge need. The pick could also be Paul Posluszny out of Penn State, but I donít think you can pass on someone with this potential.

    21. Denver Broncos- Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan
Joe Staley has been shooting up draft boards lately. Tackle is now a need for the Broncos with both their starters in their thirties. Joe Staley can be a dominant tackle in this league.

    22. Dallas Cowboys- Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee
Dallas addressed their greatest needs in free agency so this is a very hard pick to project. Their receivers are aging and they lack a deep threat. Meachem is a fast receiver with great size. He could wind up being a star.

    23. Kansas City Chiefs- Dewayne Jarrett, WR, USC
Herm Edwards has said he would take a lineman with his first pick, but none of them present good value here. They could take Justin Harrell, but I believe that the nod will go to Dwayne Jarrett. He has good game speed even if his timed speed is unimpressive and is already number two on the depth chart.

    24. New England Patriots (from Seattle)- Paul Posluszny, OLB, Penn State
New England defense has been dominant for years but it is aging. Poz seems to be a great tackler and is a better athlete than most give him credit for. He wonít start immediately, but in a year or two I can see him making a giant impact.

    25. New York Jets- Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
The Jets overachieved last year and arenít really that talented of a team. They donít really have a good corner. Aaron Ross exploded his senior year and won the Thorpe award. He is very physical and could be a star.

    26. Philadelphia Eagles- Micheal Griffin, S, Texas
The Eagles have above average starters at every position except Safety. Look for Micheal Griffin or even Meriwether here to change that.

    27. New Orleans Saints- Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas
New Orleans is a competent secondary away from being a serious contender. Chris Houston is a physical cornerback that sticks with his man. His biggest knock is that he canít support the run, but he is an upgrade in the Saintís secondary.

    28. New England- Brandon Meriwether, S, Miami
Meriwether was a great safety at Miami, and would be a top 15 pick if it wasnít for character issues. But injuries to Rodney Harrison lately have really hurt this team, and they need to draft his replacement.

    29. Baltimore Ravens- Jon Beason, LB, Miami
The Ravens lost Adalius Thomas, and he was cornerstone piece in their defense. Beason may not be nearly as versatile as Thomas, but he is very aggressive and would fit well in the ďOrganized ChaosĒ defensive scheme.

    30. San Diego Chargers- Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State.
I think that this pick could be the slam dunk of the draft. Ted Ginn, despite what the doubters say, absolutely schooled Leon Hall and Aaron Ross, who both are top CB prospects. Plus, his impact will be felt immediately on special teams.

    31. Chicago Bears- Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU
Chicago has a burner in Bernard Berrien (sp?), but their big possession guy is getting old. Dewayne Bowe IMO is best compared to Physical receivers like Moose or TO and could b e a steal here.

    32. Indianapolis Colts- Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee
Indianapolis is a team that somehow finds a way to win while giving up 175 yards rushing a game. I think a big part of the reason is their Defensive line is full of pass rushers. Justin Harrell is a beast against the run and is simply a gamer.

    ROUND 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOOT!

    33. Oakland Raiders-Trent Edwards, QB, Stanford
He has all the tools to be a great quarterback but injuries and a weak supporting cast hindered him.

    34. Detroit Lions- David Harris, ILB, Michigan
A good ILB is crucial in a cover two scheme, and Rod Marinelli gets one here.

    35. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Tanard Jackson, CB, Syracuse
The Bucs defense is good but aging, so they continue to select the best Defensive player available. IMO Jackson would be a first riounder had he not played a Syracuse.

    36. Cleveland Browns- Eric Wright, CB, UNLV
Wright is in the same boat as Jackson, a good player who is undervalued that could be a star.

    37. Chicago Bears- Greg Olsen, TE, Miami
Great Value pick here for the bears.

    38. Arizona Cardinals- Anthony Spencer, DE/DT Purdue
The Cardinals get a pass rushing specialist here

    39. Atlanta Falcons- Justin Blalock, OT/OG, Auburn
Petrino says ďBring on the Fatties!

    40. Miami Dolphins- Aaron Sears, OT/OG, Tennessee
Its time for an offensive line overhaul in Miami.

    41. Minnesota Vikings- Steve Smith, WR, USC

    42. San Francisco 49ers- Jason Hill, WR, Washington State

    43. Buffalo Bills- Antonio Pittman, RB, Ohio State

    44. Atlanta Falcons- Tony Ugoh, OT, Arkansas

    45. Carolina Panthers- Zach Miller, TE, Arizona State

    46. Pittsburgh Steelers- Ryan Kalil, C, USC

    47. Green Bay Packers- Rufus Alexander, OLB, Oklahoma

    48. Jacksonville Jaguars- Eric Weddle, S, Utah

    49. Cincinnati Bengals- Marcus McCauley, CB, Fresno State

    50. Tennessee Titans- Craig Davis, WR, LSU

    51. New York Giants- Josh Wilson, CB, Maryland

    52. St Louis Rams- Victor Abiamiri, DE, Notre Dame

    53. Dallas Cowboys- Tim Crowder, DE, Texas.

    54. Kansas City Chiefs- Josh Beekman, OG, Boston College\

    55. Seattle Seahawks- Ben Patrick, TE, Delaware

    56. Denver Broncos- Tank Tyler, DT, NCST

    57. Philadelphia Eagles- Fred Bennett, CB, South Carolina

    58. New Orleans Saints- Aaron Rouse, S, Virginia Tech

    59. New York Jets- Lamar Woodley, DE, Michigan

    60. Miami Dolphins- Drew Stanton, QB, Michigan State

    61. Baltimore Ravens- Kevin Kolb, QB, Houston

    62. San Diego Chargers- John Wendling, S, Wyoming

    63. New York Jets- Brain Leonard, FB, Rutgers

    64. Tampa Bay Buccaneears- Damien Hughes, CB, California

I like your picks but the way you imply Minter should be a backup irks me. He's old but he's still good at what he does. He's not as quick as he used to be but he still hits hard and plays smart.

Saints go Bowe round 1 easily. He's BPA.

Round 2) Horrible. Saints don't need S at all in this draft. Give us Daymeion Hughes instead.

Great first round pick for the Eagles, safety is our biggest need and Griffin would fill that hole very well. Bennett is an OK pick, but the Eagles would probably pick Woodley or Leonard over him in the second round. This is pretty good though.

i was expecting alot of negative posts from dolphins fans, but none yet lol.
i was pretty happy with this one, it took me 2 hours and i rushed through the last 6-7 picks, which is why they were questionable.

Olsen won't fall that far, but other than that I really like the Browns draft :)

The Pats have shown no interest in Posluzsny. They haven't worked him out or brought him in for a visit. I'm not sure they even had anyone at his Pro Day, other than maybe an area scout or two. There are several LB's they like a lot more than Puz, and that's ok by me. I don't like him at all for the Pats and I'm hoping they feel the same way.

I think the Lions are going to trade down, mostly because CJ will be available. They could use the extra pick, and Gaines Adams. Aside from that, your mock looks great.
