  • A first round scenario

A potential scenario as I see it right now. Not what I want (or believe is right), but what I think is one scenario. That’s all it is, folks. I’ll try to get a couple other scenarios up, but this one first. Could change a lot, and as noted, I have other scenarios on hand that I've spoken to some about. I’ll add options and more comments later if possible, but wanted to get something up in case I’m not back in time for the start of the draft and any big news that might break.

    1. Oakland – QB Jamarcus Russell, LSU

As noted, I think this is the right move, but we’ll have to wait and see.

    2. Detroit – WR Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech

It is the best value … and they could actually use a downfield WR.

    3. Cleveland – OT Joe Thomas, Wisconsin

Tough one … but Thomas helps out more in the immediate future than Quinn.

    4. Tampa Bay – DT Amobi Okoye, Louisville

Worst no-trade scenario for them … so they reach.

    5. Arizona – OT Levi Brown, Penn State

I trust Grimm … though I’m not a huge Levi fan.

    6. Washington – S Laron Landry, LSU

    They are hoping Golston develops.

    7. Minnesota – CB Leon Hall, Michigan

    I’d laugh, to be honest.

    8. Atlanta – DE Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas

Don’t like it, but understandable at the same time.

    9. Miami – QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame

I wouldn’t be stunned if they passed.

    10. Houston – DE Gaines Adams, Clemson

A riot in Houston if they pass AD.

    11. San Francisco – LB Patrick Willis, Mississippi

Could be the leader that defense needs. ILB’s get underrated in the 3-4.

    12. Buffalo – RB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma

    Their dream situation.

    13. St. Louis – CB Darrelle Revis, Pittsburgh

Carriker is a strong, strong thought.

    14. Carolina – S Reggie Nelson, Florida

Short of it is that safety value in round 2 isn’t close, and they need a safety.

    15. Pittsburgh – DL Adam Carriker, Nebraska

Maybe their ideal situation, if they buy Carriker able to play a 3-tech role.

    16. Green Bay – WR Dwayne Bowe, LSU

Could flip with Meachem. Tough, physical big target to their liking. A Moss trade waves this out, though.

    17. Jacksonville – S Michael Griffin, Texas

Don’t like it. Not one bit.

    18. Cincinnati – DT Alan Branch, Michigan

    Good gamble.

    19. Tennessee – WR Robert Meachem, Tennessee

Could flip with Bowe. Defense can wait … the future lies with Vince.

    20. New York Giants – LB Jon Beason, the U

A lot of options, and trade down may be in their best interest.

    21. Denver – DT Justin Harrell, Tennessee

Perhaps a mild surprise, but I’m not sold on Staley … yet.

    22. Dallas – CB Aaron Ross, Texas

A number of directions, but with 3 WR’s off … they go for return help and CB depth.

    23. Kansas City – OT Joe Staley, Central Michigan

    Perhaps their ideal scenario.

    24. New England – LB David Harris, Michigan

Want him … so they gamble higher than expected.

    25. New York Jets – TE Greg Olsen, the U

A lot of options … but they need a dynamic TE. Question is, is Olsen dynamic?

    26. Philadelphia – S Brandon Meriweather, the U

Seems to be someone a lot of people feel will get the nod … if New England doesn’t pluck him (or someone, say, San Diego, deals up for him)

    27. New Orleans Saints – WR Ted Ginn Jr., the Ohio State

A lot of options … but tough to pass. Ginn Jr. and Bush … intriguing to say the least.

    28. New England – CB Josh Wilson, Maryland

I like Houston better, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilson goes higher … and he might be a better fit here anyways.

    29. Baltimore – G Ben Grubbs, Auburn

Could go anywhere, as this is a team, in all honesty, without many immediate needs. Grubbs puts Chester at C.

    30. San Diego – WR Anthony Gonzalez, the Ohio State

No safety value. The big tall Jarrett that fits Norv, or the quicker Gonzalez, which more fits what the team needs?

    31. Chicago – OL Tony Ugoh, Arkansas

Really just a guess here for now, although following rumors of their OL interest as the bet. A number of directions here. Remember, Ugoh can project inside.

    32. Indianapolis – LB Lawrence Timmons, Florida State

My gut says WR, but I went with my head here.

Again, I ask that you remember this is a no-trade mock, which plays a huge dynamic on the picks. I want to note this, because if Lynch falls, someone will move up for him, IMO (and if Green Bay lands Moss, watch for them to reconsider Lynch).

Thanks, although there are a couple things that are quite fluid, if I can get back in time to work on something.

Tis gonna be an interesting draft day, that's for sure. Number 1 is far from certain ... and that sets the dynamics for everything. I think this could be either a heavy trade first round, or a minimal trade first round, all of it keying into what the Raiders do at the start. I'll try to get a scenario up whenever I get back.

Another top 10 team to watch, IMO, is Atlanta. A lot of stuff on Brown/Anderson ... might they swing another direction and make a move up for someone at the last second ... not named CJ?

Hope the Pats don't go with Josh Wilson.
