  • My first 2008 Mock Draft

    Here's my extremely early prediction:

    1. Detroit Lions: Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville
-Finally grab the franchise QB they desperately need.

    2. Oakland Raiders: DeSean Jackson, WR, California
-They need a big time threat for their new QB

    3. Miami Dolphins: Jake Long, OT, Michigan
-The most glaring weakness on the team is the Oline.

    4. Houston Texans: Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
-They make up for passing on Reggie Bush; franchise back

    5. Dallas Cowboys (f/CLE): Chad Henne, QB, Michigan
-Romo isn't the answer, Henne will lead this team well

    6. Atlanta Falcons: Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
-They need some help in the interior line

    7. Washington Redskins: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
-Passed on a DE in '07, so they make up for it with the talented Harvey

    8. New York Giants: Sam Baker, OT, USC
-A glaring weakness on the team

    9. Minnesota Vikings: Kenny Phillips, S, Miami
-They solve a big weakness on their defense

    10. Arizona Cardinals: Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia
-They need a RB to go with the aging James

    11. Carolina Panthers: Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky
-Delhomme is done and Carr is shell-shocked from his time in Houston, Woodson is going to be great IMO

    12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Dan Connor, OLB, Penn State
-They bring in youth to a LB core that needs it

    13. Dallas Cowboys: Mario Manningham, WR, Michigan
-Mario works well with his teammate Henne to make the Cowboys dangerous

    14. Cincinnati Bengals: Jonathan Goff, ILB, Vanderbilt
-Looks like Thurman is done, they need a replacment

    15. Seattle Seahawks: Mike Hart, RB, Michigan
-Unless Alexander returns to MVP form, I think they'll look for the future at the position

    16. Pittsburgh Steelers: Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
-They missed out on Revis, so they grab another talented corner

    17. Chicago Bears: Adarious Bowman, WR, Oklahoma State
-Muhammed isn't getting young and depth isn't that great

    18. Kansas City Chiefs: Barry Richardson, OT, Clemson
-Tackle is a ? and Richardson is just what they need

    19. St. Louis Rams: Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii
-Unless Bulger gets an extension, I think they'll bring in the next franchise QB

    20. Buffalo Bills: Early Doucet, WR, LSU
-Desperately need someone to compliment Evans and to help Losman

    21. Philadelphia Eagles: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
-Need some size and ability at the WR position to help Kolb or McNabb

    22. Tennessee Titans: Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
    -Vince Young needs weapons

    23. Denver Broncos: James Hardy, WR, Indiana
-Talented receiver to replace Rod Smith and help Cutler

    24. Green Bay Packers: Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas
-Speedy, zone blocking back the Packers need to go with Jackson and Morency

    25. New England Patriots: Calais Campbell, DE, Miami
-Big time end they could use

    26. New York Jets: Marcus Monk, WR, Arkansas
-Need a big presence at WR to go with Coles and Cotchery

    27. Jacksonville Jaguars: Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
-Need to beef up the Dline with the talented DE

    28. New England Patriots: Xavier Adibi, LB, Virginia Tech
-Youth and athleticism are brought to NE with this pick

    29. Baltimore Ravens: James Laurinaitis, ILB, Ohio St.
-They need youth at the LB position and Laurinaitis has enough attitude to work well

    30. Indianapolis Colts: Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
    -Need some talent at DT

    31. San Diego Chargers: Ray Maualuga, ILB, USC
-Great LB to work in solid defene

    32. New Orleans Saints: Frank Okam, DT, Texas
-Need youth and talent at DT

Like where you have the Saints picking and the pick. Might rather Sedrick Ellis but Okam will do.

Brohm isn't that good to make the Lions forget about Stanton. Lions cannot pick top 2 again. Its the wrong position for the players they need.

I do hope we've done enough to at least get out of the top five.

Even if we pick that high, the pick won't be Brohm... probably Campbell.

Yeah Campbell would be great. I hope he would become the elite DE prospect that Gaines didn't quite become. I'm still very worried about our DE's right now.

dude keith rivers will be somewhere in the first round, i mean hes being talked about as being possibly the best linebacker in the draft.

also Cushing will go in the first round

You're on crack to not have the Bears winning the division

For the Pats I love Calais Campbell and Xavier Adibi as players, but I'm not sure if they would fit into the Patriots plans. Campbell makes some sense, our OLB corps is aging and he could sit behind for a few seasons but I think CB makes more sense there. Adibi is too small to play the 3-4, especially as an ILB (which is what we need.). He is more of a traditional 4-3 WLB or a tampa 2 WLB. Give us a big, run-stuffer there like South Carolina's Jasper Brinkley.

Bengals have a MLB, if Odell is reinstated he will be 3rd in the depth chart at WLB.

                              Steelers Pick

I understand your reasoning, but don't think they go CB in round one. Of course, we have to see what this years performance is like for guys like McFadden and Taylor.

I think they go LB to replace aging James Farrior, and that replacement's name is:

                              James Laurinitus
