  • Big need for long-snappers?

When watching the combine workout today I noticed on the ticker that very many teams has long-snapper listed as a team need according to NFL Network. My first thought is of course why would they care to list that position when they choose only the 3 or 4 biggest needs of each team. Anyway, I'm just curious. Does a lot of teams need long-snappers, and could we actually see some drafted in April?

I don't know why they put the Giants #1 needs as LS, we have 2 young ones already.

Could that mean "Left Safety"? In some schemes, safeties are designated as "left" and "right" instead of "strong" and "free". A Left Safety would otherwise be known as a Strong Safety, which I've heard the Giants need.

The problem arises when people use statistics like a drunk uses a lamp post: for support instead of illumination.

If luck is where preparation meets opportunity, then clutch is where failure meets luck.

that makes sense. They said GB needs a long snapper but Rob Davis has only had 1 bad snap that i remember in the last 3 years. Whereas Bigby our Strong Saftey was a liability at times

            That might be it Dam8610.

Anyway, here are the teams NFL Network think needs LS:
Denver, Houston, Seattle, San Diego, Green Bay and N.Y. Giants

If this "Left Safety" business is true, someone working for the NFL Network needs to be fired.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing, I'm guessing they really do mean Left Safety.

wouldnt there have been a few RSs or right safeties then too?

that just seems kind of.....assanine......i bet it was long snapper though i would hardly think to list that as a need under any circumstance

Not the Vikings. Cullen Loeffler does a fine job with that.

They also had Green bay listed with the 30th and 18th draft pick... It was obviously a typo/mistake.

                      they get smoked.
