If i was the Steelers FO i'd look long and hard at Jason Brown for a 2nd rounder, he might not be the prospect Branden Albert or Chilo Rachal may be, but they could both be off the board by our 2nd rounder, and i cant see them goin OG in round 1.
read on cowboys board the radio is saying barber got a 1st and 3rd and canty got a 1st
Thats what ive read and that makes sense, although it scares me because I could see someone paying a 1st for Canty, Spears never had a season close to what Canty had last, and without him we have nobody at DE...Im hoping we match anything for him, we cant afford to lose one of our only playmakers on the line.
No one is gonna pay a 1st and 3rd for Barber, hell let alone any rb I dont believe, too easy to replace, you can just use a 3rd and probably get a guy to produce the same...
But this means Barber has been offered a one-year, $2.562 million deal, and we retain matching rights on any offer sheet presented to Barber. If we were to decline matching an offer sheet, we would receive first- and third-round picks in return.
Canty, meanwhile, has been offered a one-year, $2.017 million deal. The compensation for a team signing him away -- should we decide not to match an offer -- would be a first-round pick.
The Cowboys placed the highest tender possible ($2.562 million) on restricted free agent Marion Barber.
Interested teams would have to give up a first- and third-round pick if they signed Barber to an offer sheet Dallas couldn't match. This makes a lot more sense than an earlier report that said MBIII would only get a first-round tender. This should prevent Barber from getting signed elsewhere. Look for Dallas to work towards a long-term agreement as they also look to add another back. Feb. 28 - 3:52 pm et
but if we dont match canty, we'd have 3 1sts; could get a guy like campbell
And campbell could end up like Spears, id just rather match anything Canty could get offered, he is going to be a stud and probably our best D lineman right now, at his age its too risky to let him walk...I still think these guys get long term deals, but tendering them now makes it easier to manage the cap space left and work out a deal with these guys in the mean time.

I guarantee that if someone picks Cam Newton in the Top 5 they will regret it.
Are you guys insane? If we let Canty go we have nobody on the DL? Huh?
DE is probably our deepest position on the team (with ILB coming in a close second). Hatcher is an excellent young player who can't get on the field because of the logjam. We had Ratliff moving over to NT who was also excellent play the 5 tech. That doesn't even mention how nice of a surprise Bowen was. Sorry, but if Canty was signed away for a 1st rounder, I would be dancing in the streets. I love the guy, but if you can get a mid-late first round pick and hit on it, there is no finer way to build a talented, cap-friendly roster.
