  • Oakland release RB Dominic Rhodes

A source close to the Raiders said the team will release running back Dominic Rhodes.

ESPN's John Clayton is reporting the same thing.

I still think he can be. Did good for us the last couple of games last season when Fargas got hurt

It will probably be another month before Lamont goes. Al is gonna make Lamont wait as long as possible to get to a new team. What a nice guy

Lamont's time is ticking .. wonder if the Chargers would still be interested.

would love Rodes in GB, he played in a similar offense with both the Raiders and Colts.

Rhodes would still be a decent backup. Wouldn't want him to be part of a balanced committee.

My coach, coached dominic rhodes back in highschool, i dont see chargers going after any other RB as of now, AJ drafted to sign all his picks so theres not a need for a RB

Rhodes still has alot to offer.... for the raiders he kind of fell on bad timing he was out for the first 4 games then also the rise of fargas in the backfield he really didnt have the carries to show that he still has something to offer. Team who picks him up i think will have a good back and i think he still can be a starter for a team i wouldn't write him off just yet. He will be picked up very soon mayb the lions.

Interesting thought, I suppose he would be a nice fit and the likes of Jackson, Morency and Wynn are nothing to get excited about. I wonder if we show any interest, I mean we didn't look at any RBs in the draft.

He's probably going to compete with Michael Bush's ability to stay healthy for a job.

Its only a matter of time for LaMont.. I guess there will be a cap hit if Oakland cut him today.

This move puts them back under the salary cap.

Is Michael Bush ready to play come pre-season? That could be a nice tandem.

The shame of it is, I look at Oakland's offense and think "boy, they could be all world if they only had an offensive line".

                            JaMarcus Russell at QB
                            Javon Walker at WR
Darren McFadden, Justin Fargas and Michael Bush at RB
                            Zach Miller at TE

                            If only.

Is the Rhodes release really newsworthy?
