  • What Comes First?

Actually winning the starting running back job?
    -or-
Setting 2,000 yards as your goal for the season?

Young has to beat out Henry and Pittman, and Torain, and Aldrigde.

    Ahh. Selvin, Selvin.

He's never carried the load in his life, and he wants to do so at the pro level. 125 yards a game is a lot to ask from yourself. Not many people average 5 YPC, much less with a heavy load, and for him to get two thousand yards he'd need to average that, and carry the rock 400 times..

    Yeah, not gonna happen.

Like MetSox said, 125 yards per week is a difficult thing to do. Only the best players get 2000 yards, and I do not think Young is capable of it.

"Young would have to first convince everyone, most notably Shanahan, he's capable of 20-plus carries a game, before 2,000 yards becomes possible."

My vote is with winning the starting position.

I don't get the big deal, will he probably get this? No. But I won't knock a guy for having super high goals, maybe thats motivation to work harder in the off-season...He needs to be concerned with staying healthy over the course of a season more then anything, but I have no problem with guys making their own goals no matter how high they might be, thats their perogative.

What difference does that make? He plays for Denver, that point is moot.

I don't think bashing him for him telling the public his goals. Slightly unrealistic yes, but at least you know he's motivated. I would rather have someone who's motivated to reach a goal then someone who has no goals and is lazy.

Overgrown ego? I laugh at that. He didn't say he was better than anyone, and he doesn't have a reputation for running his mouth. Maybe if he went out and did touchdown dances and taunted opposing teams then yeah you could say that. But he's just saying what he wants to accomplish in 2008.

I always thought the chicken came first?

                        Or is it the egg?

You need the chicken to pop out the egg but the egg to pop out the chicken duh so it was like magic.

I agree with everyone 2,000 isnt going to happen but I wont bash a guy from setting high goals just kind of chuckle. Would you rather have him say "Im going to rush for 500 yards this season" or say "2000 hot damn, no problem coach"?

Frank Gore set his eyes on 2k as well. He was slowed by ankle injuries and a poor offense.

Soon people will be talking about the 2k prediction curse like the madden curse =P
