Titans agree with RT Stewart on six-year extension

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE (TICKER) —The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with right tackle David Stewart on a six-year contract extension Saturday.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the Tennessean is reporting the deal is worth $38.9 with $10 million in guaranteed money and a $6 million signing bonus. The 25-year-old Stewart, who was a restricted free agent, will reportedly receive a $2 million roster bonus this year along with a $1 million base salary.

Both the Titans and Stewart’s agent Bus Cook were unavailable for comment.

The 6-7, 318-pound is now under contract until 2013. A 2005 fourth-round pick, Stewart has started 30 games over the last two seasons.

Tennessee continues to lock up the core of its offensive line to protect superstar quarterback Vince Young. The Titans signed left tackle Michael Roos to a six-year, $43 million extension in April.

good for them, building from within and signing both their bookends to long term contracts. now if they stopped drafting RB's in the top 2 rounds, they could address some other areas of need...:P

Good signing. Very important to solidify their line like that.

Now they just need a stud WR and their offense is in business!

No doubt about it, that was a terrible pick.

Thats an insult to Orlando! Put some pads on OB and I guarantee he would put VY to shame.

Michael Roos, David Stewart, Albert Haynesworth, and a few other guys already on roster are why we let Antwan Odom and Jacob Bell go and never spent big in FA. Like the Roos signing, it was imperative that we sign our bookend OT's long-term. Stewart isn't the best in pass-blocking, but he's a fierce mauler with a mean streak. He reminds a lot of Titans fans of Runyan.

You act as if people must accomplish something in order to be recognized. Paris Hilton is "famous," but the biggest thing she's done was... *makes bow chika wow wow noises*

Besides, due to the popularity of college football, VY can go off of his collegiate success alone to claim fame or stardome. Then add in the other things he's done in the NFL like ROTY, Pro Bowl, 3rd overall pick in the whole Mario Williams/Reggie Bush/Vince Young drama, winning record as a starting QB including the streak at the end of '06, etc. He's not lighting it up through the air, but you can have a bad TD:INT ratio and still reach stardome; especially if you're as polarizing as VY, even if it's not accurate in your definition.
