  • Week 6 Power Rankings

A new week brings several shake ups to the power rankings. There is a new team atop the power rankings as well as a new bottom feeder. The Philadelphia Eagles fell out of the top 10 following a humiliated defeat at the hands of the Oakland Raiders and the Washington Redskins continue their generosity by handing another team its first win of the season. Finally, one team moves up 9 spots to enter the top 10.

    1. New Orleans Saints (5-0) – Perhaps the most telling statistic of Sunday's game against the Giants is that the Saints rushed for 133 yards while New York rushed for only 84.

    2. Indianapolis Colts (5-0) – WR Anthony Gonzales should be ready to play next week. They'll play the winless Rams to get him back into the groove.

    3. Minnesota Vikings (6-0) – Brett Favre is playing absolutely great football but Brad Childress' playcalling is going to backfire on them at least one game this season.

    4. Denver Broncos (6-0) – Cutler who? The Broncos, Josh McDaniels, and Kyle Orton are a prime example of why we American football.

    5. New York Giants (5-1) – No one thought the Giants/Saints game would have been a blowout. Aaron Rouse couldn't have been any worse than C.C. Brown in the secondary.

    6. New England Patriots (4-2) – A porous Tennessee defense was just what Tom Brady needed to get back on the same page with his receivers.

    7. Atlanta Falcons (4-1) – Matt Ryan and Co. have been red hot since coming out of the bye week.

    8. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) – Roethlisberger passed all over the Browns defense but four turnovers is unacceptable no matter who you're playing.

    9. Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) – Losing DE Antwan Odom is a huge blow to the defense as the Bengals lose their only effective front four pass rusher.

    10. Arizona Cardinals (3-2) – Kurt Warner and the Cardinals offense made quick work out of a feel good Seattle team. They travel to the Meadowlands to take on a Giants team that will be looking for blood.

    11. Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) – A loss to the Raiders should drop them farther than four spots but they benefit from a number of top 15 teams losing.

    12. Chicago Bears (3-2) – The Bears need about as much offensive line help as the Packers. Red zone turnovers cost them a winnable game.

    13. Baltimore Ravens (3-3) – After starting off 3-0, the Ravens have now gone 0-3 and all three losses have come in the final minutes. They get a week off to figure out how to close games.

    14. San Francisco 49ers (3-2) – Frank Gore should be back when the 49ers travel to Houston next week. Their offense hasn't looked the same without him.

    15. Green Bay Packers (3-2) – The bye week wasn't enough for the offensive line to come together as a cohesive unit as they gave up 5 more sacks to Detroit.

    16. Houston Texans (3-3) – Their passing game is starting to click although their running game is still stuck in neutral.

    17. New York Jets (3-3) – Mark Sanchez is not doing his defense any favors by throwing 5 interceptions against the hapless Bills. Kris Jenkins injury might be a blow this defense won't recover from.

    18. Miami Dolphins (2-3) – Coming off the bye week the Dolphins host the Saints which will be a huge test for their defense.

    19. San Diego Chargers (2-3) – With each loss Norv Turner's seat gets warmer and warmer.

    20. Dallas Cowboys (3-2) – Atlanta will be the next visitor to Jerry World. Dallas' secondary is going to have its hands full trying to cover all of the Falcons weapons.

    21. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) – An overtime win against the St. Louis Rams is nothing to be proud about but it should teach them that in order to win just feed MJD the ball.

    22. Seattle Seahawks (2-4) – The Seahawks won't be winning many games with that makeshift offensive line. Matt Hasselback barely had time to breath much less complete a pass.

    23. Carolina Panthers (2-4) – The Panthers seem to be going back to the formula that worked last year: give DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart the ball and limit Jake Delhomme's passing attempts.

    24. Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) – Kansas City was the latest recipient of Washington's generosity, which is giving victories to previously winless teams.

    25. Buffalo Bills (2-4) – The Bills might want to hand the reins over to Ryan Fitzpatrick to see if he can give the offense a slight punch.

    26. Oakland Raiders (2-4) – JaMarcus Russell had a career game against the Eagles defense. Rookie WR Louis Murphy is helping provide a spark for a franchise that desperately needs one.

    27. Washington Redskins (2-4) – Todd Collins didn't fare much better than Jason Campbell. Jim Zorn is more than likely finished as head coach during the bye week.

    28. Detroit Lions (1-5) – It's hard to win when you have to insert your third string QB into the game but they still managed five sacks against Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay.

    29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-6) – The Bucs have been doing their best to hang around in games. Too bad their best just isn't good enough.

    30. Cleveland Browns (1-5) - Compared to last week Derek Anderson had a great game by completing 9 passes and the Browns still couldn't manage 200 yards of total offense.

    31. St. Louis Rams (0-6) – Signs of life with the Rams. They took the Jags to OT. Moral victory moves them up from the bottom of the power rankings. At least for this week.

    32. Tennessee Titans (0-6) – 59-0: A classic case of a team giving up on their coach. Something drastic needs to happen in Tennessee to turn this team around.

Broncos should be ahead of the Giants at this point. Also, the reason for those rushing totals in the Saints/Giants game is because we had to pass the whole game and you guys could run the ball a ton in the 2nd half to slow the game down.

Overall, I still think the Giants are better than the Broncos, especially when you guys get Canty, Ross, and Boley back.

It's quite possible we are but the Broncos have proven more on the field up to this point.

I'm worried about Brandon Jacobs. He just has not looked motivated and is running without the same fury he once had.

That worries me as well. I think his body is starting to wear down.

Seems about right for Buffalo. We have to give Fitzy a try. Wouldn't be a shock if he got all of the time before the bye in week 9.

We're so bad, but to think that we could be leading the division if not for the McKelvin fumble.

He's looked better of late and seems to be trying to protect himself for later in the season instead of just releasing the ogre. If he's running soft in December and january I'll get concerned.

I would swap Oakland and KC. Oakland beat a much better team. Having their only win against the Skins shouldn't move them up to 24.

Otherwise, good rankings. Lovin the Broncos love :D

I like KC and Oakland where they are. The fact that Oakland has one more win shouldn't make a difference at this point in the season. KC has more talent in my opinion, is better coached, and has been far more competitive even in their losses.

So Oakland beats KC and Philly and is worse than KC? Oakland's offense is terrible, but their defense has as much talent as anyone. They played well against Philly and already have a head to head win against KC.

Not that it really makes a difference. I just think that Oakland is better than KC.
