Hiring Holmgren would be an absolutly great move by the Brown orginization IMO. Also I don't think people should write this possibility off as there being no way Holmgren would want to take over of this Franchise that is in complete chaos.
Holmgren has a history of turning bad/mediocre teams into consistent play off contenders... Not many people remember just how bad Green Bay was before Mike Holmgren took over as coach. The packers had made the post season a grand total of 2 times in a 20 year span before holmgren. In fact I see a decent amount of simularites between the Pre-Holmgren Packers coached and the Browns now, both were/are historic franchises with a great history with dedicated fan bases, that just were/are in disaray for the moment. He took that Packer team that hadn't made the post season but twice in 20 years and took them to 6 straight post season appearences, 2 SB appearences and 1 SB victory.
Then he went to a Seahawk team that was stuck in mediocrity averaging 6-8 wins over a 6 year period of time. It took him a bit longer to make the Seahawks a consistent play off team but he ending of taking them to 6(including 5 straight) post season appearnces, and a SB appearnece.
I think as Holmgren will wait to see what other oppurtunities come up just to weigh his options and make a smart decision. However I in no way will assume he wouldn't touch the browns job, in fact considering his past I wouldn't be to surprised if he did take it. It may take a few years but if the Browns have Holmgren running the show in Cleveland I have no doubts that they will become regular post season contenders.
