I'm surprised that someone from the AFC North, that's used to the Ravens, thinks he's doing it just to talk. He's always been himself, and has always talked, it's just now he's getting more attention, due to his new position of authority. I'd only be disappointed if he changed who he was, when he got the new gig.

I liken it to Coach Wally Rig of Necessary Roughness...Couldn't coach for **** when he put the suit jacket and tie on...but when he ripped it all off, went back to being him, it was more natural. Everyone will hate on Rex for his talk, but he is asked questions and answers em truthfully, and his players love him for it.

There's a difference between being confident and being dumb.
How do you not understand the mathematical nuances?? When there's a 5 way tie in the conference, there are numerous tie breakers, of which very few people know all of them. So when Rex, after a heated loss, said his team was mathematically eliminated, he truly though that they were. Was he wrong?? Well ya. A lot of the players thought so as well.

As far as talking, what Jet player was yapping the week prior to the bengals?? Bart Scott, the player who usually does the talking, said that this wasn't a week for talking. The only person who was talking was Ochocinco, yet I don't see you blasting him for it.

And just so we're clear. I love me some 85, he's a great ambassador for the game and does it all in good humor.

Thats why Ocho often doesnt get blasted. He means no harm or doesnt do it to be an butthead. He does it for humor and attention. No harm no foul. Rex just comes off as a pompous jerk and that will not endear well with opposing fans. Especially benefiting from playing 2 teams in a row to get in who had nothing to play for and then calling yourself the favorite. Thats not how you win fans or earn the ability to get away with that stuff. Now if they win he will look like a genius or if they lose, a giant turd. I have no problem with him except how he goes about it. As for changing with his new position, sometimes it comes with the territory. When you move up the ranks in a business you have act according to your level. Gene Upshaw was a mean SOB when he played, but with the NFLPA he was a businessman through and through.

I can 100% guarantee to you that Rex doesn't give half a **** about any of the statements in bold. And there is absolutely no reason for him to worry about any of that stuff

Jets players have been talking all year just like their coach. Shut up and play the game. They sound like morons.

During the Mangini era, it had been quiet and they did not reach Super Bowl. Jets have nothing to lose if Rex is wrong.

That and then not backing it up by winning the big game.

That is one of the worst explanations I've ever heard in my life. Your coach and players sound like idiots. They barely got into the playoffs and now you're the favorites? If you want to say that behind the scenes, that's fine but it does nothing good for the team to state that in public.

Rex Ryan is awesome. I love people who carry themselves with that swagger, not afraid to say anything. I think its refreshing and very good for the game.

That said I think you need much more then good defense and a running game. Is it enough to beat 4 times in a row teams among the top 12/32 in the NFL, on the biggest stage? You need elite QB play to win the Super Bowl and I dont think the Jets have that. This league is about great passing games now, for those who didnt get the memo.

At some point they will need Sanchez to step up bigtime if they are to win it all, and nothing is impossible in this great game, but I dont see it happening this year.

Thats the thing with Rex Ryan. IMO his attitude has rubbed on his players enough that they dont care he said it. They expect him to. Its relax, confident behavior and it will inspire them.

Besides that, as a Giants fan, your team won the Super Bowl 2 seasons ago. Let the Jets fans enjoy themselves and take it easy. Whats the point? All this is great intertainement!

Quite frankly its annoying as to anyone who has seen great teams, to have a blubbering idiot like Rex to proclaim he is the best team in the NFL. The last real game the Jets played, they lost to a non-playoff team, and Rex said they weren't going to make the playoffs. And now they are the best team in the NFL? It seems like he is just like his dad. Big mouth and won't likely win the big game.

It's basically the difference between Giants and Jets fans. When we won the Super Bowl most Giants fans weren't expecting anything at all. I was just hoping we'd beat Tampa in the first round. The Jets win two games in a row and they're going to to the Super Bowl. They build themselves up so much and then they wonder why they have so many heart crushing losses.

Our players don't really talk as much as people make it out to be. Bart Scott always opens his mouth but he is a product of Rex. I know a few other players have opened their mouth at times this year such as Calvin Pace after the first Miami game but it has not been as bad people say it is.

Except nobody really takes Rex seriously, everybody knows he's talking out of his ass, even Darrelle Revis said "that's crazy" when asked about it.

no it is not an explanation. It is what if they fail. What the f did you expect from Rex. "Oh well, I think Colts should be the favorite." That sounds like what moronic. I stick with what Rex said.
