    Raiders reel in Seabass

"The Oakland Raiders have awarded the largest kicking contract in league history to one of the league's largest kickers.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Sebastian Janikowski will sign a four-year, $16 million contract, including $9 million in guaranteed money."

It looks silly, but it's probably a fat year 4 deal that will never happen.

However, if the Raiders really end up paying a kicker more than 4 million per year then Al is worse off than we all think.

Seabass is clutch, but no kicker deserves that much money.

How does Al Davis keep affording these contracts what is his personal wealth?

Al is an incredible business mind. The football side of his mind seems to have lost some of its luster, but he's still a great business man. I can't imagine the Raiders have money issues.

It could be front loaded contract, too. Pay him a big chunk this year while uncapped and have him locked up at an affordable salary over the next 3 so there's no concern if/when a new cap is instituted.

He was one of the best kickers last year, and one of our best players. We counted for almost more points than all of our skill position players

Especially kickers that are on teams not good enough to get into many clutch situations to begin with.

Lets face it, he's the only one in an oakland backfield that can put up points, who isn't a running back he's worth money.
