  • Best Recent Drafts

Which recent drafts (2002+) do you guys think are the best? Team wise I mean.

**Thought about putting it in the draft forum, but I think it fits better here.

Personally, I really like the Broncos 2006 draft, even if they didn't manage to keep all those guys.

Jay Cutler, Tony Scheffler, Brandon Marshall, and Elvis Dumervil. Mike Bell also, but as an UDFA.

Also like the 2004 Chargers draft.

Drafted Eli (but got Rivers), Igor Olshansky, Nate Kaeding, Nick Hardwick, Shaun Phillips, Michael Turner, and got Wes Welker as an UDFA.

There are probably more out there, but these are the ones I remember right now.

So, what recent drafts do you guys like?

2004 for the Cards was killer.

Antonio Smith in the 5th round has been a decent player as well.

          Chargers 2004 draft was absurd...

Our 2005 draft had the chance to be EPIC.
Pollack, Thurman, Henry & Fanene. Broken neck, drugs and a death later its just Fanene.

Our 2006 draft is turning out amazing.
            1. Joseph - one of the top CB in the NFL
            2. Whitworth - Great lineman wherever he plays
            4. Peko - Most underrated DT and motor of the D

Last years draft class has big potential too.
            1. If Andre can get healthy he is a monster.
            2. Rey is already showing signs of being a big time LB
            3. Michael Johnson looked good in limited PT.
            5. Huber will be our P for a long time.
            6. Trent looked like a good Dime CB
            6. Bernard Scott looks legit. Big play kinda guy.
            7. Fui is gonna be our starting FB it seems.

Pittsburgh sometimes struggles late in the draft, but always get great players in the first round.

Since 2002: Kendall Simmons, Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger, Heath Miller, Santonio Holmes, Lawrence Timmons, Rashard Mendenhall

As for the best draft, I think it could be the 2007 one, even though it isn't that spectacular. Still, Woodley alone makes the draft worthy.

              1. LB Lawrence Timmons
              2. LB LaMarr Woodley
              3. TE Matt Spaeth
              4. P Daniel Sepulveda
              5. CB William Gai

Timmons is a good player, Woodley is a stud, Spaeth is a below-average backup, Sepulveda is a good punter that will probably stick with the team for a while, and Gai was pretty disappointing as a starter but was the league's best nickel CB during the 08-09 season. With McFadden back, it's not that crazy to think that Gai could once again be a great nickel CB.

I thought we just did one of these not that long ago? Damn this off-season needs to hurry up and be over.

                None the less, I'll participate.

                2005 for Dallas.

                Demarcus Ware
                Marcus Spears
                Kevin Burnett
                Marion Barber
                Chris Canty
                Jay Ratliff

We got alot of starts, pro bowls, and all pro's from these guys. I doubt we see a draft this good in another decade or so.

2008 for the Ravens. We got Ray Rice and Joe Flacco. A top 5 rb and a top 5 young QB. And Tom Zbikowski who is a allstar special teamer and will be a great S when he gets the chance.

                          DeAngelo Williams
                          Richard Marshall
                          Jeff King

08 was an insane draft starting tackle, dominant RB, good safety, starting LB and starting Guard.

Not if you ever want your safety to cover.
