  • More tackling with the helmets:

-Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Mark Clayton suffered a mild concussion when he got decked by New York Giants free safety Antrel Rolle
Rolle was flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver, leading with his helmet.

-Cleveland Browns safety Nick Sorensen was carted off the field on a stretcher during a nasty helmet-to-helmet collision on a kickoff return against the Detroit Lions.

It was a somber moment when Sorensen was down on the field with players from both teams obviously concerned and joining in prayer.

According to the Browns' public relations department, Sorensens is responsive with feelings in all four extremities and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

-New England Patriots defensive lineman Ron Brace has only suffered a sprained ankle after undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging exam Friday, according to the Boston Herald.
The injury isn't reported to be serious.

-Calvin Pace of New York Jets to miss at least 6 weeks with broken foot, report says: http://es.pn/97d2CJ

      • Donovan McNabb's status in doubt for the opener.

Playing against any team starting Rex Grossman is like hitting the ******* lottery.

I was going to say, "ask Peyton Manning!"

            But that's too easy.

            UNLEASH THE DRAGON!

I heard that after the Colts lost to the Saints, Bill Polian threw Roger Goodell up against a wall while Archie Manning demanded that in all future Colts Superbowl appearances, the opposing team is required to start Rex Grossman.

              "**** IT! I'M GOING DEEP!!"

              • When's the last time McNabb's status going into a game wasn't doubtful? The guy's always hurt.

Damn, they should bring back Mark Rypien or Doug Williams.

                  • RAIDERZ

The "stinger" that knocked Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell from Saturday's game against the 49ers wasn't even the most serious injury he suffered.

Raiders coach Tom Cable revealed that he's more worried about an injury to Campbell's wrist that required an x-ray and MRI. ESPN's Bill Williamson said Campbell will "surely be rested" all this week and wondered if he'd be back for the season opener.

Campbell's likely absence from practice will make it important for Cable to pick a backup quarterback between Bruce Gradkowski and Kyle Boller; it figures to be Gradkowski.

In other Raiders offense injury news, starting wideout Chaz Shilens will be out another 2-5 weeks after undergoing knee surgery. He looks likely to miss a regular season or two. Starting running back Michael Bush will undergo surgery on his thumb, but could still play in the opener against Tennessee.

                          • If they go 2-2 while Ben is out they'll be in good shape. I dont see them beating Baltimore or Tenn. but the others (Atlanta, Tampa) are winable even with Dixon at the helm.

Don't dismiss Atlanta. One of my sleeper teams this year. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they pushed New Orleans for that division or at least made it as a Wildcard team.
