  • Colt McCoy is on the Browns' roster bubble

Hated the pick. He's done nothing but show me why.

Lol thread worthy? I am a fan of Colt but why do you hate the pick? Do you have a long term resolution at QB.. I am still a believer but not a firm one, you guys will most likely get one of those primetime quarterbacks next year.

I don't see him getting cut this soon, I know he hasn't looked good but he was a 3rd round pick.

Having a need at quarterback doesn't necessitate taking an awful one. Colt McCoy was a pure shotgun QB with a girly weak arm coming into a windy, inclement weather division like the AFC North. There are many who believe that it adds years of development coming out of a pure shotgun system such as Joe Montana and Mel Kiper.

I hope like hell we get Jake Locker. But there were a ton of players I would have much rather had with that 3rd round pick.

As for whether or not it's worth its own thread... he was supposed to be one of the marquee quarterbacks in this class and he may not even make it one year before being cut? Seems like a pretty big deal to me.

Not with how much NFL teams run the spread now.

You still have to be able to take the snap from under center, have a good drop back, and read the defense while all of this is happening. And with playaction, quarterbacks need to be adjusted to turning their back to the defense. Just looking at the defense from under center as opposed to in the shotgun is a big difference.

Yea, teams run some shotgun, but they are still under center most of the time.

I still can't believe he was even drafted as high as the third round.

If he gets cut, he's a Cowboy. I really doubt he'd get cut, though. It makes zero sense to cut the guy right now.

I doubt Holmgren allows the kid he drafted in the 3rd in 2010 to be cut in order to keep the UFDA Mangina traded for in 2009.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, McCoy, a third-round pick in April, is among one of eight players “on the bubble” for Eric Mangini’s team. That includes fellow QB Brett Ratliff(notes), and two young running backs, James Davis and Chris Jennings(notes).
I can't find a link to the original article. The writer is really stretching it. They aren't going to come out and say he has a roster spot.

I know Brett Ratliff will never be a starter I don't know about Colt yet, so at this point it would be foolish to cut Colt this early in his career especially considering their top 2 QB's are Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, ouch. It would serve the Browns right if they end up cutting Colt and he becomes a starter one day while they still are without a signal caller.

He's not going to get cut, Grossi was being incredibly dramatic. He could throw 6 interceptions against Detroit and he still wouldn't be cut. He's not going anywhere.

Have it your way, with BK (BoneKrusher)

If they keep Brett Ratliff over Colt McCoy, I will literally fall over laughing until my ass falls off.

I think everyone here called it.

That what's I was gonna say, pretty sure we'd pick him up just because. Still though, cutting him after 1 pre-season is pretty stupid no matter how you spin it. Let's not act like he was in a pro style system so he would come in ready to go, he was a project and if you weren't willing to give him at least an entire off-season in the system then you should have never drafted him.

It's not like he was gonna stop them from taking a 1st rd QB next year.
