  • Merriman Done In San Diego

Chargers placed linebacker Shawne Merriman on Reserve-Injured with a calf injury.

This means Merriman must be released by the team when he becomes healthy. Career in SD over.

Once Merriman is healthy, which could be in a couple weeks, Chargers must release him and he is free to sign with another team this season.

Distinction to be made here: Shawne Merriman can play again this season for another team. But he is finished in San Diego.
I wouldn't mind the Ravens taking a look at him later in the season if he gets healthy enough to play, platooning him with Jarret Johnson would probably be a lot better for us than what we're doing now.

Merriman hasn't done anything since he was suspended for performance enhancing drugs. He won't ever be what he was. I will take JJ over him. He is a cry baby who wants money for being an over-rated player

We as Ravens fans are clearly scum of the earth, and should just be happy that these great people, who cheer for nothing than the finest, morally impeccable players, playing on the finest, most morally impeccable teams, will grace us with their presence, and words of wisdom.

              THANK YOU! I'M PRE-ORDERING NOW!
We seriously need some help behind Ninkovich, TBC and Cunningham.
I'm sure we can get him for cheap too for the rest of the season.

                  Are you joking?

Vrabel has had a great year so far.

JJ hasn't been lighting the world on fire lately either, all I'm saying is that bringing Merriman in and letting one of our backup OLBs that are only valuable on special teams go would be a benefit to the defense. I realize that he hasn't been the same since the suspension, but the guys we have currently haven't ever been good. Our pass rush needs a boost somehow, this guy might provide somewhat of a spark in a platoon/limited role.

Shawne Merriman has recorded a sack in only two games over the past three seasons. He recorded two apiece in weeks 8 and 9 last year (Oakland and NYG).

                      Food for thought.

I hate on SD a lot, but it's mostly because of guys like him. Nothing but a product of steroids. If this guy was anywhere near as good as his draft stock would have indicated, the Eli for Rivers + Meriman deal could have gone down as one of the greatest rip-offs ever. (yea, super bowl... I know.
