  • Schefter & Glazer reporting Bills set to claim Merriman

    Needed it's own thread.

    Jay_Glazer Jay Glazer
I'm hearing now even stronger that bills gm buddy nix has gone as far as informing merriman he's claiming him
    Adam_Schefter Adam Schefter
As Fox reported, Bills are set to claim LB Shawne Merriman. Unless Buffalo changes its mind, Merriman will be a Bill.

Props to fenikz on the awesome sig

It makes a little sense.....He's not that costly iirc and the Bills need as many fits for their 3-4 as they can get. Plus the Nix-San Diego connection works for it too.

I doubt it....Though he probably deserves it. He's been useless and a healthy scratch for the last 2 games. Not good signs.

Really? Even after steroids he put up 12.5 sacks before his knee got messed up. I would snatch him up in a second just on the small chance that he is back to his pre-injury form, or could be if given the rest of the year off on a team that really has nothing to play for this year anyway.

hes only on a 1 year deal. itll cost a team about $1.6m to have him for the rest of this year then hes a free agent.

Guess he hasn't had enough of losing to the Patriots.

                    Awesome.

Why? Why not!? At least we're doing something, and there's not a whole lot we can do to make us any worse. Fans will like it.

I'm still laughing over the 'Maybin and Has-bin' joke.

I thought they already were changing back to 3-4 or at least realized they didnt have the personal to run it.

Cool, now they are closer to being the 2nd worst team in the league... or not.

                              Great move by the Bills.
There's no risk at all. No draft picks traded (unlike the Vikings to get Moss), and Merriman might have some big upside.
                              Might not.

But let me ax you this: Who will get to 2 sacks first in a Bills uniform: Merriman, or last year's #1 pick Maybin?

Bills invested a hell of a lot in Maybin, and nothing in Merriman.
