  • Dolphins to start Pennington

    Per ESPN

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5788311

I know there aren't a lot of Henne supporters around here (I know I'm not...) but this is still a bit shocking. I mean, Henne and the Phins have lost to Baltimore, Pittsburgh, NYJ, and the Patriots so its not liked he's played poorly against scrubs (really his only TERRIBLE game was against Baltimore...). I guess the regime really wasn't happy with Henne (lack of) progress. Maybe they will be in the running for one of the top QBs in the draft after all...

Dumb. Gotta play through it, if they really think he's the guy.

Over or under 3 games until Pennington gets hurt?

IDK if this is good for the titans or not since we are playing the Phins

He's going for another comeback player of the year award.

Probably what they should do. But in the coaches' defense, we are a playoff team, not a rebulding team anymore. We can't afford Henne's stupid mistakes anymore. He stares down receivers too much, which leads to turnovers (he has two games with three picks already this year), he can't get the ball to Marshall efficiently and effectively enough, and the running game has sufered because of it. I just pray this doesn't stunt Henne's growth too much for the future, but honestly, I think the offense will be more productive and efficient now.

We'll see how this thing plays out, but I'm ok with it now as long as it helps us win games NOW.

There were rumors of this sort before the season, that the staff didn't really like or trust Henne, and that the team still supported Pennington.

Henne hasn't be outright bad, but he hasn't been particularly good either. I was having a debate with another paster a week or so again, I forget who, but they said they'd prefer Henne over Vince Young.....I guess this kinda proves him wrong.

Henne has more INT's than TD's so that's never a good thing for a starting QB. The Dolphins are still in the race, even though behind, so see what Pennington can give them.

This seems a bit aggressive, and detrimental to my fantasy team since I just traded for Henne to be my QB2. Hmmm.

I really did not like Henne coming out of Michigan, but he's actually surpassed my expectations (which were set really low). That said, if Pennington can still get it done, Brandon Marshall is a good receiver for him.

Miami should be better. That run game has been really lackluster and even with a few guys stepping up on defense (Wake, Davis), they're not really shining anywhere right now. If a switch is to be made, now would be the time, so I applaud the initiative.

Henne doesn't really fit the Dolphins offense, that's the problem. His strength always has been the deep passing game and the Dolphins don't really have the personnel to work to his strength. Even back at Michigan Henne struggled in the intermediate passing game when he didn't have the option of going deep. If the Dolphins want Chad Henne to be their starting quarterback long-term, then they need to get him a deep threat who can stretch the field. Randy Moss would've been a perfect pick up for them.

I thought this would be the year Henne started to break out. I guess not.

Hey I've seen him throw 10 yard passes before. And they were mighty sexy too.

The coaches doesnt trust Henne. It's simple as that. They dont allow him to audible the playcall so he's stuck with the play that they give him. Thats why he is so predictable. Henning's offfense is more built for a QB like Pennington then Henne. With that said I dont think this is the end for Henne is Miami. Henning will retire or get fired at the end of the year(i hope anyway) then Henne will get his chance in a real offense thats built for his kind of style of play.
