They traded away first round picks two years in a row. Those could have been key up-and-coming players for the Bears they had been developing to augment and replace guys like Urlacher, Peppers, Briggs, and the old O-Line.
Instead, all they have is Jay Cutler and an aging defense and aging O-Line.
It's not like all those players are done after this year. The Bears have all their picks starting this year, and can address OL, LB, and DB in the draft, and outside of OL, none of those positions need to see significant playing time for another 2-3 years.
Sure, they could have used the picks, but it was 2 first round picks. They still had like 12 other picks for the last 2 years. It's not like they didn't have the ability to bring anyone in.
Again, unless you expect Urlacher and Peppers to all of a sudden turn into scrubs next season, it's not like the Bears are completely ******.
