  • John Skelton to start for the Cardinals

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5906581

Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt named rookie John Skelton as his starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.

Starter Derek Anderson has missed practice this week with a concussion and hasn't been cleared to play. He's listed as doubtful. Max Hall went on the injured reserve list, forcing Skelton to make his first career start.
About damn time, Whisenhunt. FORDHAM POWERZZZZZZZ

Skelton is the best quarterback to start for the Cardinals this season.

Well, gotta gauge the level of fail that will come from him to just make absolutely sure they'll be taking a QB in the first.

Ugh, he better look Fitz's way all day, Should pick up denver's d for this game. Is the arizona run blocking bad? I can't believe Wells or Hightower hasn't taken off this year.

I could be starting for the opposing team, and it would still be a bad idea to start Denver's defense in fantasy....

If I was Skelton I'd go up to Fitz before the game and go "I'm throwing 30 passes your way. If you catch half, I'll give you my game check and be your ***** for the rest of my Cardinals career."

And then I'd throw 30 his way, all well above his head, and the rest at Breaston's feet.

Ahhh... I am reminded of the great QB drought Green Bay went through between the periods of Bart Starr and Lynn Dickey. Holy crap was that ever a bad stretch of years.

Has there been a more modern stretch where an NFL team was putting every QB it could get its hands on under center?

The Seahawks between Krieg and Hasselbeck were starting guys like Stan Gelbaugh, John Friesz, Dan McGwire. Then Picked up Warren Moon for a couple years, then John Kitna, Brock Huard, Trent Dilfer...

That was a bad 10 years.

                          Miss Matt Leinart yet??

Whisenhunt is a big dummy. The Cards would be competing for the division with Leinart under center. Maybe he doesn't throw for 4k, but he'd at least consistently move the offense.

The same Leinart backing up Dan Orlovsky?

Nice try, but backups are not considered backups to each other.
                              They both are behind Schaub.
Unless there's an injury, since Leinart unlikely gets any reps during the week other than scout team, I don't see how he would automatically be the primary backup to Schaub without a TC or preseason.

Still, who would you rather have starting for the Texans if Schaub goes down, Leinart or Orlovsky??

Anyway, Leinart is still more functional than anyone on the Cards roster. It was a bad move by a HC who has questionable evaluation skills when it comes to QBs.
