I thought your number looked a little low, but his TD per attempt ratio is still dynamite.

You can't ignore the importance of good field position. Even when he doesn't bust loose, he puts the offense in a position where they're almost in field goal range when they get the ball. I don't think the Bears would have got to the Super Bowl without him.

He absolutely is not deserving of the Hall of Fame. Returners don't impact the game enough to deserve consideration.
Normally, I'd agree with this statement 100,000,000%. But I think Hester is the rare exception to that rule. He absolutely impacts the game that much.

I don't think it's any coincidence that the Bears are NFC North winners once again now that they scaled back his offensive responsibilities and had him focus on returning.

I think Devin Hester's impact should be taken into consideration. BDH (Before Devin Hester), I do not recall there being such a premium for good returners. It was always considered a plus for a guy to be a returner, and now it seems like there are more return specialists because teams now see the value of a good return man.

I may be wrong, but Devin Hester has not only been a great returner, but he has also impacted special teams and the value of kick returners.
