I think this is a very solid move from the Panthers perspective, but I think people are making a bit too much of this move as of now. Yes, there's a chance he could suddenly become a good QB, as the talent is there. But, there's a lot of remaking to do, and the odds are, it'll take some time. He needs to build up confidence, and that, in of itself, is not an easy task. Then, he needs mechanical work. Carr also needs to actually learn how to be a QB somewhat ... part of it is due to lost confidence, but he rushes and doesn't make accurate reads or go through his progressions with consistency, and not all of it can be blamed on the line play.

Not saying he can't be great, but let's not go overboard on this signing just yet. I like Carr, and I hope he does real well ... but there's a chance that this might be another pitstop on the road. That said, I do think it's an upgrade from Weinke, which provides better protection against a Delhomme injury (or ineffectiveness) and as such, I do think this is a good move for the Panthers.

On the contrary, everyone who is clueless will finally realize that this clown sucks as an NFL QB.

i don't get the love surrounding this guy. he could spend the next 5 years throwing 30 ints and 2 touchdowns with an offensive line of hall of famers and people would still make weak excuses for his poor play.
Incredible huh? The posts in his favor on this thread are baffling. It is truely amazing how people can't see how awful the guy is. There is no way someone can actually say carr is any good at all after watching 1 single game of his. No way. You would have to be a complete idiot.

I like this signing.. If Delhomme falters at all like he did this year, I think Carolina would be wise to give Carr a shot. Young quarterback who didn't go #1 overall for no reason. I still believe he can be a pretty good quarterback in this league and there's no quesiton that the offensive talent and O-Line he has in Carolina is a huge upgrade than what he had in Houston.

Why? Because he had no O-Line. This the best move the Panthers have made in the 21st century next to drafting Smith and getting Stephen Davis

One could do worse than checking down to DeAngelo Williams (ex. another Delhomme sack/forced fumble). I think the Panthers would serve themselves well by trying to incorporate him into the offense as a whole, as say Brian Westbrook.

If Carr replaces Delhomme, the biggest single benifactor as far as numbers will be DeAngelo Williams as he may end up catching 10 balls a game. He will get a serious workout weekly via the signature carr move: The Dumpoff.

So in short, it's a good move by the Panthers and a brand new chance for David Carr. Everybody wins.

Storyline-wise though, it would be awesome if Carr suddenly blooms as a Panther, and becomes a Pro Bowl quarterback.
