No Tank Johnson ?!?! Damn Packer fans. And serious crime needs to be defined. As your signature is aware of, some people might consider that crime (although victimless, and perfectly fine) serious.
Serious crime is defined as something "other than a minor brush with the law" according to the study the statistic came from. Drug crimes are obviously a big part of the statistics but assault (especially against women) is also alarmingly high.
The NFL still doesn't even compare to the NBA where 40% of players have been charged with a serious crime.
I agree with you. The NFL needs to have stricter penalties and Goodell is doing that with Jones' 1 year and Henry's 8 game...
If we are going to demand more from athletes, why not those of our government...
100 members of the Senate 435 in the House making 535 in Congress [for all you mathematicians].
*117 who have owned 2 or more business have drove at least 2 of those business into bankruptcy and left debts partners or banks [wherever they received their Loans from].
*71% have credit so bad, they wouldn't be approved for an American Express card if they were a normal citizen...However they all get an issued an American Express card without any credit check because of their Congress status.
*53 percent would be denied clearance from the department of energy and defense for their financial problems.
*29 members have been accused of "wife beating" with criminal and/or civil proceedings.
*27 have DUI's/DWI's.
*21 are currently defendants in Criminal and/or Civil lawsuits.
*19 have been accused of writing bad checks.
*14 have drug related arrests.
*8 for shoplifting.
*7 for fraud.
*4 for theft.
*3 for assault.
*1 CRIMINAL trespassing.
I really don't mean to hijack this thread nor break the TOS/Code of Conduct...
3) Do not discuss religion or politics, this isn't the place for those topics.
I do think that the idolization of criminals is partly our fault for promoting them or even electing them. It shouldn't be solely on the athlete, but on us and the parents. If you do not teach your children values and then wonder why they ended up like Clarrett [their childhood hero] and blame the NFL/NBA/Rappers, etc instead of yourself or society as a whole. At least the NFL is doing something to help the youth of America, to give them a positive role model and give us a fans players we want on our teams that we don't worry if he'll miss next season with his planned trip to Vegas or Amsterdam.
As for the Video Mosses, I liked it. Video would have helped make it more "vibrant" but since video availability is low on this topic, I think you did a good job...Maybe court video of players walking in with cuffs/chains, or OJ's famous car chase, etc...I also thought the censored song was appropriate.
Let's get some activity going in the Cleveland sub-forum!
