  • 2005 Draft: Bust????

    http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/years/2005

From David Pollack and Pacman Jones to Troy Williamson and Mike Williams.

This is their make or break season. It really seems like a pile of mediocrity. The top 5 picks (Alex Smtith, Ronnie Brown, Braylon Edwards, Cedric Benson, and Carnell Williams) have been pretty mediocre and none of them look like they are going to be much more then "pretty good"

Picks 11-13 seem to be the only very good picks in the first round.... (Demarcus Ware, Shawn Merriman, and jamal Brown)

This could be one of the rare drafts when under 3 players are truly memorable.

It was a very weak draft. No surprise that it was followed by an absolutely super one.

Luis Castillo has been very good. He has become one of the best 3-4 ends in the game. I think Mark Clayton is going to become a big time player as well.

I don't think we can tell at all yet. There are plenty of guys from the 1st round that can have big years this year. After the season we can make some better judgements.

The Chargers had a terrific first round that year...

But I woudn't say none of those guys will only be "pretty good"...Benson is just entering his first year as a starter, give Caddy time, Alex Smith will only be a third year QB, etc. etc....I know you said next year will be the determining year so that would include giving these guys a shot but...I'd wait it out before saying it was a horrible draft class.

As some have mentioned, I wouldn't place Alex Smith in a box yet. He had a really terrible rookie season, but he showed a lot of improvement last season. As long as he continues to build on that, I think he has potential.

                        Oldie but a goodie.

can't really blame him for that either, he had nothing to throw at his rookie year. I do blame him foor looking like he's taking a dump when he he gets his picture taken.

Thomas Davis is a ******* stud, he kicked ass last year and will be a pro bowler soon.

Scouts compared him to Ray Lewis coming out, he's starting to play up to his potential.
