  • Jaguars release S Darius

The youth movement at safety has officially begun, as the Jaguars informed Donovin Darius on Thursday morning that the team was releasing him. So ends the Jaguars career of the player who has started more games than any other defensive player in franchise history.

An influx of young talent at the safety position would seem to be at the root of Dariusí release. Heís coming off a season in which he sustained a broken leg in a week-11 game against the New York Giants. He missed 14 games in 2005 after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

Well I'm really not all that surprised, Donovan has become injury prone and missed major playing time in both of the past two years. It's gonna be weird seeing him playing for somebody else, but he definitely still has the ability to start.

Another thing this tells us is how much faith the coaching staff has in Gerald Sensebaugh to step in and become our full time starter. Which will IMO benefit this team more than keeping Donovan around another year or two.

No, the Panthers need young guys to get experience. Not a guy who has had severe injuries two years in a row and is going into his 11th season.

kinda surprising but I guess this can be seen as a bode of confidence in Nelson and Sensabaugh. Darius shouldnt have a hard time finding a new home.
