  • Official Offseason Wishlist Thread

So i was kicking around in the Lions forum for some reason, and i sawa a thread where they outlined wat they wanted to happen in their offseason via FA, draft, etc. so i thought it'd be cool to have a thread like this for our own. Feel free to post whatever you would like to see happen this offseason

    Free Agency

Cuts- Steve Mcnair, Bart Scott, Jonathon Ogden (retire?), mike flynn(so chester can aduquately develop) derrick mason (depending on wat happens in FA)

Signings-Mewelde Moore (i think he would be a great pickup and a good spell back for mcgahee, hes still young, saves us using a draft pick)

Bryant Johnson- Bring him in to play the slot, move demetrius outside, team him with mark clayton and make a nice little trio

Randy Starks- hes a DT from tennesee, but whenever i watch him play, he reminds me of pryce a whole lot. I think he could come and and rotate through until pryce hangs em up then take over. Anyone else think it might work?

    Draft

Round 1- CB- either mcklevin or mike jenkins...the value may be off, but i am against a QB here and unless a top tier prospect falls to us (chris long, etc.) i think CB is the way to go

Round 2- QB/DE/OLB- i think that if a decent QB value is there, we bite, if not, then i think that we stick with smith and boller. OTher then that, youth and depth on defence are needed.

RD1= Mike Jenkins, Vernon Gholston, Sedrick Ellis, and if we do take a QB Andre Woodson.........basically anyone but Matt Ryan, and Brian Brohm will do.

RD2= James Hardy, depending upon wether we get a CB in rd1 or not Tracy Porter, Limas Sweed.

        RD3= Thomas DeCoud, Andrew Crummey

              Retirements: JO & Steve McNair
Cuts: Mike Anderson, David Pittman, Jamaine Winborne (Let Musa Smith walk)
              Signings:
Bryant Johnson, rumor has it he wants to be here anyways. Clayton-Williams-Johnson-Darling would be SOLID!

              Draft:
Round 1: Leodis McKelvin, Sedrick Ellis or Matt Ryan (Dream of Chris Long or Vernon Ghloston falling to us)
Round 2: Erin Henderson, Antonie Cason, Tracy Porter or Defensive Lineman Help.

              Baltimore: 7-4

Would flat out LOVE that. So much youth and talent, man really hope Johnson is wearing Purple and Black next year. Anyway-

Cuts/Retire- Mike Anderson, Mike Flynn, STEVE MCNAIR, Jonathan Ogden, Derrick Mason- So our younger WRs can get there chance to shine, and I wouldnt mind seeing Musa leave, we need a different type of runner to be the change of pace back.

Signings- Bryant Johnson, I dont know much about Mewelde Moore but I would like to sign a speedy change of pace back, someone to come in late in the game with defense worn out, hed be a threat to break a long run every carry. I think we shouldnt sign to many FA this offseason, just sign the draft picks and focus on re-signing Sizzle.

                Draft-
                Round 1-
Leodis McKelvin, Mike Jenkins- Corner is a huge need and either of these guys would fill in nicely. McKelvin just needs to work on ball skills or he'll just be Ike Taylor v2.

Matt Ryan- If we are targeting a QB I think Ryan is the ONLY 1 we should consider, He has all the tools and most of his flaws can be corrected, espcialy now that we've got Cameron.

Ryan Clady- I know im probably the only 1 who would like to see us go after a Tackle round1, I just think Terry isnt the answer and Gaither will need lots of time to adjust and is still unproven,(im not 100% sold on him yet) Clady can play either LT or RT whereever hes needed - He would battle Terry in training and get the best out of him, Gaither should start to adjust to the LT spot. I would love to see Grubbs and Clady just dominate the right side. :)
Clady(RT)-Grubbs(RG)-Chester(C)Brown(LG)-Gaither(LT) <- pretty beast Oline for the future.

Sedrick Ellis- Oh boy, can be part of a rotation untill Gregg retires or starts to slow down, then its Ellis and Ngata and that would be nightmares for Offensive Cordinators to plan for. Would be a nice pickup for the future.

                Round 2-
Tracy Porter- If we dont take a CB round 1 Porter is a MUST TAKE here if hes still avalible. We have a huge need at corner and it CANT BE IGNORED. True he isnt very physical and strong, those are things your going to adapt to be when your a Raven:D. Patrick Lee would also be a another choice.

Chad Henne, Andre Woodson, or Joe Flacco. We need someone to come and show Troy Smith that the QB job isnt going to be won easily. Hes going to have to fight hard for the job. I wouldnt mind any of these guys but I am tired of taking QBs in late rounds, I think its time to finnally take a franchise QB round 1 and stop pro-longing it, only problem is theres no one really worth the round1 selection who looks to be a franchise signal caller, plus we've got Smith and I really want to give him a chance.:D

Quentin Groves- I personlly don't like Groves that much but wouldnt min the pickup. Pryce us getting old, Barnes can't be a full time DE, neither can Ngata, so I do think we need to bring someone in.

i just heard jevon kearse got cut...i think bringing him in as a 3rd down specialist to relieve JJ and bring some extra pass rush skills would be premium, if he came at a good price. And if he passes a medical exam. Just a thought, id like to see how rex could use him. Wat do you guys think?

Jevon is way too injury-prone in my opinion and he would probably ask for a little more then he can play for. Our #1 priority should be to re-sign Terrell long-term.

All the moves so far have been great for this team. Flynn was old and playing below average. This now gives Jason Brown the chance to slide over and be our center for years to come. Mike Anderson never really did anything. One of the most puzzling signing in the Ravens history.

                      Needs:

                      1. Franchsie QB- We have no QB on this roster that is a legit franchise guy like Palmer, Manning, or Brady. We need stability at the QB position. Troy Smith is a great depth guy to have, but may never be a legit NFL QB.

                      2. CB- Cmac and Rolle are both getting older. If one of them goes down we are stuck with Ivy, Pittman, or Martin again. A rookie CB would give us depth and hopefully a future starter at the CB position.

                      3. WR- We have no game breaking WR. No height or speed at the WR position. A guy like Bryant Johnson or DJ Hackett would give us that big WR that can stretch the field. Don't rule out one of the WR's in the draft after round 1. Limas Sweed and Early Doucett coud be around at our 2nd pick.

                      4. Offensive line- With Flynn gone and JO possibly retiring, we need to add depth along the line. Tackle seems to be the biggest need if JO does retire.

                        1. There's really no franchise guy to get at the QB position so thats not really a possibility but its still a need.

                        2. CB is a no brainer although I don't want Mike Jenkins.

                        3. While I agree that we don't have a game breaker at WR, I'd rather see DWill, Clayton, and even Darling get a shot at it rather then shelling out dough for someone else especially since we are rather tight against the cap.

                        4. Tackle is somewhat a concern but definitely isn't the biggest one for this team.

As for the Kearse thought, if he wants to sign a 1 or 2 year deal thats incentive based then bring him to Baltimore. His history of injuries makes him to risky for anything guaranteed. But he'd be a nice addition if he could stay on the field.

I think kearse would be great at a veteran min in an exclusive 3rd down role...also, my wish list has gone to s**t...starks is off the market, johnson is visiting in buffalo right now, and i heard the moore was making the roudns too, although baltimore was not in his itinerary.

Anyone else notice we have been completely non-existant in FA this year? i havent even heard us mentioned in hte same name as a FA...its depressing. Not that i want us to spend our money willy nilly...it would be great if ozzie found a way to infuse some youth and depth into our team with players that fit our system

Well now it seems like Bryant Johnson is off the market, with him and the Bills reaching an agreement.

The Ravens just don't have the money to add a free agent. This free agency class is also pretty weak. Outside of Samuel and Moss, there was no real big time player out there. Our best bet is a possible trade for a proven player. Although that is unlikely.
