instead of drafting ryan, why dont we trade our 5th rounder or 4th rounder to the jets for chad pennington?

STOP! before you go off, listen to the facts...

pennington, no matter what people say, is still a good QB. he has probably the bext accuracy in the league, and is an excellent leader. Not to mention, hes available. NY is clearly moving on with clemens, and we need a veteran QB. Pennington could exceed in camerons sysstem much like drew brees did. We have a great recieving TE, two solid possesion recievers, and a good solid running game. i think itd be a great aquisition. But maybe thats because im a big fan of pennington. wat does everyone think of this?

Pennington has pretty good accuracy(65.6%) but is nowhere near the best in the NFL. He's only started all 16 games once in his 8 year career. He also has a weak arm which would limit our offense.

Yeah, his lack of arm strength would only limit our offense to a west coast type of offense (at best)

ok his arm strength isnt THAT bad...its not like his arm falls off when he throws. hes still more then adequate when completeing the throws. Is he gunna cannon is downfiled 50 yards? nope. but look where that skill got kyle boller.

and i dont care what his completion percentage is, watch him play, he is easily one of the mots accurate QBs in the game. its been his MO ever since he came into the leauge

no way would i do that. i dont believe him to be that high quality of a starting player. i would rather draft a guy and go with him.

I think it's feasible, but it really depends on where the dominoes fall on draft day. If Ryan is there at 8, we take em. If not, then we wait for Henne or Flacco in the second round, or trade back up to get him(which I'm opposed to, unless the plan is to give Boller/Smith the starting job this year). If neither one of those guys are on the board, then Pennington is a possibility for a trade if the Ravens can wing it. I doubt he'll be any more than a short term starter, and I just can't see Ozzie going in that direction, but hey, the QB situation has seen worse days.

Getting Chad is like trading for McNair all over again, Pennington's arm is even weaker and more damaged.

We have a young offensive line and he would get killed. Then we're left with Kyle and Troy so lets not and save the picks.
