  • Walter Payton Statue

The Chicago Park District is being a little silly. They have told the Payton family that any other park can have the statue, but Soldier Field is a memorial to all veterans who have served the country. The fact that inside the stadium they have a ring of honor and have put a flying saucer on the building doesn't distract but a Walter Payton Statue would is ludicrous. Anyone have any thoughts one way or another?

Thanks to BoneKrusher Credit and Rep to him for the sig.

If anything, Payton symbolizes what a solider is about. Integrity, hard work, leadership, and moral values. I really don't understand why the Park District is against this. Just because the stadium was dedicated as a memorial to all the veterans doesn't mean a statue can't be erected. It would be awesome to have Payton, Butkus, Sayers, Luckman, or Halas outside Soldier Field.
