I wouldnt mind him but the fact NO ONE has picked him into the 4th has me thinking we did the right thing.

I was hoping for either Shipley or Dorin Dickerson somewhere and was happy to see Shipley. He can actually run good routes, something our WRs don't do well.
Dickerson is just an intriguing guy to me, with his size, speed, and match up issues. I know we would be doubling down on TE (actually tripling down with Chase), but I just find the guy a matchup nightmare and am all for adding weapons for Carson. Kinda reminded me of Tab Perry.Last edited by HR24; 04-23-2010, 10:05 PM.

Sorry guys, was out with friends tonight, only go updates on the draft via phone but couldn't post.
I personally love this draft so far. I feel like we nailed it out of the park again. I started thinking back to all of our past drafts and I think our franchise always does a pretty solid job.
Sure, we got screwed with Pollack, Perry, Irons, Henry, etc. etc. and Thurman bit us in the ass (that one was on us, he had character concerns before the draft) but in general I feel that we're generally in the upper half of the league of drafting since Marvin got here.
Anyways, I'm going to echo this sentiment: what's the deal with our receivers? Chad and Bryant are penciled in as the #1 and #2. From there, is it Caldwell or Jones? I have to believe it's Caldwell due to his success last year. But then from there, do we give up on Jerome? do we still need Quan as a returner? Will Jones get cut by the preseason? Will Shipley be ready to be the #4 even? Will we keep 6 receivers on the active roster?
There certainly are a lot of questions!

I would be PO'd if Quan was let go. He was huge for special teams and actually started to produce as a WR late. I don't see how you can let go of him.
Given what's happened in the first 3 rounds, there will be some big cuts. Either at DE or WR.
Happy with the draft thus far. Would like to see a safety but don't think it's a huge deal. Would like to see them continue to go after value.
I really like Shipley because I feel he can contribute immediately. Gonna try to be up for the early picks!

Quan and Ship back together again, good times :D No but really I think that's pretty cool.
Also can one of you tell me how Michael Johnson looked last year? I find it pretty interesting that I (as well as alot of other people) compared MJ and Dunlap together, and both have extreme amounts of potential to be really great.
It would be amazing for your defense if you got the most out of those two, Dunlap is the perfect fit for you guys.

Johnson did pretty well last year and really started to come into his own with increased PT later in the season. I'm interested to see what he looks like this year to see if he's bulked up and can really start to put it together. I'm really starting to like the Dunlap pick and think that he and MJ could have really excellent futures ahead of them in our system.
That said, I'd love to see something like this unfold.
4: Reshad Jones - S, UGA
4: John Connor - FB, UK
5: Brandon Carter - OG, Texas Tech
6: John Skelton - QB, Fordham
7: Keaton Kristick - OLB, Oregon State
