  • Questions from a Buc fan

What are your thoughts on Dunlap and Michael Johnson so far this year?

I see that some of your fans want a pass rusher in the first round next year, so does that mean that you guys are ready to give up on those two?

If so, what is the likelyhood of trading/cutting Johnson?

Both of those young men have the length and speed to be monsters, what's the reason they are not producing? Do they need a different DL coach? Are they lazy? Not smart enough?

    Thanks in advance.

I would be stunned if we even considered letting either one of them go. Johnson has been transitioning to OLB and Dunlap is still a rookie. From what I can gather, our biggest problem with our lack of pass rush is the injury situation and lack of an interior push.

Cool. I have been a fan of Johnson since his last year at GT. Really wanted the Bucs to draft him.

Why put such a tall guy at OLB in the 4-3 defense?

I want a pass rusher, but wouldn't give up Johnson or Dunlap to get him.

As far as moving Johnson, it just seems like a more natural position for him to be standing up. Whatever it is about not putting his hand in the ground makes him more comfortable.

With Johnson playing linebacker right now, and Dunlap not really ready yet, I'd be happy if we went DE in the first. Our pass rush is terrible with Odom and Geathers.

However, our pass rush looked decent yesterday. I don't know if it's because Pat Sims actually penetrates the line unlike Tank Johnson who just sort of eats up space or if it's because the Colt's line is just really bad.

Geathers has been crap since he signed the contract a few years back...He played well in '06 and tacked on 10.5 sacks but since then he has combined for only 10.5 sacks counting this year. Odom could be better but has found a hard time getting on the field.

I think we should cut their dead weight or just not resign them (not sure when their contracts end) because honestly how much worse can we get than 1 sack from the both of them so far this year?

To get back on topic I was never really certain how Johnson was and will translate as a 4-3 Linebacker. I think he would make an wonderful 3-4 Outside Linebacker though.
