  • Dallas Morning News Post-Combine Report

This the top 10 currently ranked by Rick Gosselin:

    1. Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech
    2. Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
    3. Jamarcus Russel QB LSU
    4. Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
    5. Gaines Adams DE Clemson
    6. LaRon Landry S LSU
    7. Alan Branch DT Michigan
    8. Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
    9. Levi Brown OT Penn State
    10. Dwayne Jarrett WR USC

Here are four that are on the delcine post-draft:

    1. Daymeion Hughes CB Cal
    2. Zach Miller TE Arizona State
    3. Tight Ends
    4. Mason Crosby K Colorado

Here are four that are on the rise post-draft:
    1. Speed Camps
    2. Patrick Willis MLB Mississippi
    3. Chris Houston CB Arkansas
    4. Hampton University

Those who weren't given an invitation:
    Ameer Ismail OLB Western Michigan
    Steve Baylark HB Massachusetts
    Lester Ricard QB Tulane
    Matt Maddox OL Illinois
    Ean Randolph KR South Florida

That's just the skeleton to the page that was written up but some interesting notes: Ameer Ismail led the NCAA and sacks and TFL's as a weakside linebacker for Western Michigan. Reminds me of another MAC defensive player that didn't get an invite to the Combine(Osi Umenyiora).

Wasn't sure how many Dallas fans live in Dallas and get the chance to read the paper.

      Thanks; interesting list.

Willis was "the best athlete available" who I saw as possibly falling to #22. Don't know if the 'Boys would pick him, though, as they don't seem to perceive any problems at LB.

I couldn't figure out why Ismail wasn't invited to the combine. Converted RB (recruited by ND, among others) who's only played LB for a couple of years, yet let the nation in sacks and TFL. I think he'd be an interesting risk by round 6, at least.
