  • How about our kicking specialist? Hot damn, let's not forget to shout them out, if we get that type of play from all 3 all year then we will have a huge advantage over what we traditionally are used to.

Folk - Wiped away the rust from the pre-season and went back to being automatic again. He can even save his leg on KO's this time.

Buehler - 3 Touchbacks vs 0 last year, considering how many big KO returns we gave last year I'll take starting at the 20 any time, if he can boot a few into the end zone we'll be much better for it.

Matt ******* McBriar - Damn I'm glad to have him back there, I was worried his foot wouldn't give him the same strength but he looks as good ever. I'm loving what I saw from these three guys who all relate to special teams.

    • Sure would love to combine Folk and Buehler. But as long as Buehler keeps doing what he did, it's a roster spot put to good use, imo.

Even when he didnt get touchbacks, the others were high. One of his kicks in particular seriously stayed up there for days, it may have been the last one of the game for him.

Anyone notice Tony throw the ball away that one time? haha. A rare sight but nice to see...even though it was nearly catchable lol. But it was a throw away out of bounds. The guys a playmaker, and gets a little impatient, we saw that a few times yesterday as well. Trying to force two or three passes. But he looks like he's going to be a little more cautious with the ball. We all saw him protecting the ball well in preseason. Using two hands when scrambling and holding the ball a bit higher. We dont want him to change completely, he's the best improvising Qb in the league but, being a little more cautious will help him a great deal. He's certainly still going to take those shots sometimes, though and rightfully so.

      • First of all, I believe the Bucs will be a top 5 rushing team this season. With their combination of a great OL, a trio of vicious runners (quick tangent: the Cadillac I saw yesterday was the same one that opened his career with 4 straight 100 yards rushing games; who knows if he can stay healthy, but he was running hard and looking fast yesterday), and a head coach who desperately wants his team indentity to be one of the smash mouth, pound-the-rock variety. I was extremely impressed with them.

Now, does that in any way excuse the Cowboys for allowing that ridiculous amount of yards (especially in the first half)? No, it doesn't.

I've been trying to tell anyone who would listen through this whole off-season that our concerns are not about a #1 (or 2,3,4) WR, our passing game, our secondary or anything like that. They are, in order, 1) depth, 2) interior run D, and 3) ability to cause TOs.

Hmmm, isn't that interesting that each reared its ugly head yesterday? Our lack of quality depth at NT and in our LB corps really hurt when our 1st teamers started sucking wind and getting worn down by the humidity and the surprisingly game TB squad.

Our lack of anchoring ability in the middle was exploited time and time again.

And we had zero turnovers. How many times did we see a ball bounce off of someone's hands and go careening into the back part of our secondary? I can count at least 4. Yet never was there someone who was either a) in position or b) heady enough to catch the damn thing when he was.

It also didn't help that on the one play where we finally force Leftwich into throwing up for grabs like the old childhood game of Flies Up, and we actually make the grab, they call a pathetic illegal contact foul that nullifies it.

All in all, I will say that the D has got to improve, but that it wasn't quite as bad as the stat sheet looked (mainly relative to the passing D, which did a pretty solid job) and I think its something that can be addressed with the personnel we have in house.

What was the biggest problem last year? I mean the defining game for our season was the Ravens ripping off 2 huge runs right into the middle of our D. Nothing has changed.

If Wade doesn't get the defense fixed, it will be a long season.

Again, watch our PPG. Last year it was in the bottom half of the league despite having the most sacks. We gave up 21 to scrubs last night.

Otherwise, solid victory. Good performance on offense. Barber looks to be rejuvenated.

And for kicks, Bradie James looked like ****. Last year was probably an aberration. Even more reason to draft Maualuga. Bradie has the worst tackling form ever and missed runners coming through his gap over and over and over again.
:( I didn't have the Cowboys game on TV here, but I did have the Cincy/Den game... All I can say is that Maualuga looked like a beast out there. ...just looked it up on my iphone... ESPN says he finished with 8 tackles... in his first game. wow. I dream Jason Williams can have 1 day like that this year.

Turns out that our STs unit can be fixed by 1 guy. :)

Some people were trying to tell me that we needed all 12 picks in order to fix depth and fix STs. ermmmmm...

I'm not saying we don't have work to do. I just think the Bucs running game will be better than people are giving it credit for.

Did it also tell you that Roy led their team with 9 tackles? Want him back?;)

Actually, I bet all his tackles were in the deep secondary. lol. I never want that.haha.

I don't recall who was on coverage, but I wouldn't doubt if he was the one out of position to tackle Stokley on that last second TD. haha.

                  • It was Roy Williams indeed. He went for the big hit instead of doing his job.

It'll be okay. Just tell yourself that they were never in position to draft him in the first place, and the pain will cease to exist. ;)

I am. I thought I did. ...but Burns keeps reminding me. lol. I have high hopes for Jason Williams. Hopefully he becomes the star I hope he can become.

                        • Yall are giving waaaaayyyy too much credit to Tampa Bay's offense. Lets be real here, they are a bottom 10 team in the league. Teams will load the box and force leftwitch to throw and to be honest I doubt its his job by the mid way point. We looked horrible on defense. I doubt Tampa even gets 100 yards rushing next week. But Cadillac did look great now that he is healthy. I just cant really judge because the bucs played such a horrible run defense.

Huh? What makes you say that? The only consistent thing being said is how bad our defense looked against their running attack. You're either joking, are a joke or you're trying to really emphasizing what's already been said. That was a really "greasy" post. lol. :P

Our offense is not in the bottom 10 of the league... Our running game is going to be one of the best this season thanks to our good trio of RB's and great OL play.
