  • This is the only Dallas game exclusively broadcast by NFL Network --

From NFL.com via the schedule thread:

at Arizona Cardinals, Saturday, Dec. 25 -- A pair of 2009 division champions meet in the special Christmas game in Arizona. Star power on both offenses will be on display with Cowboys QB Tony Romo and Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald.

Not crazy about this on Christmas day, since I have Comcast ripoff cable service provider, NFL Network games are sports bar games.

Could have been worse: on Thanksgiving Day. Want to bet Jerry argued for the Turkey Day game on NFLN that night but was given Christmas at Zona as compensation?

    • Yeah I bet Jerry is gonna argue for that NFLN spot for years until he gets it. That Saints match-up this year easily should be on NFL Network.

      • Why all this talk about drafting or obtaining a WR? Have you guys forgot we have Roy Williams? We gave up a lot, but made it happen and got him here. He is gonna kill it this year.

          • IRVING, Texas -- According to a source, the Cowboys have given agent Fred Lyles permission to seek a trade for wide receiver Patrick Crayton, a DeSoto, Texas native.

After the selection of Dez Bryant on Thursday night in the first round of the NFL Draft, two receivers have been shopped to other teams. Thursday night, Sam Hurd was placed on the trade blocks after his agent, Ian Greengross expressed concerns over his clients role with the team.

Crayton most likely will lose the punt returner job to Bryant and his spot on the depth chart as the No. 3 wideout.

With the club seeking more playing time for Kevin Ogletree, that also pushes Crayton's status with the team in doubt.

This is from just about 30 minutes ago, not a huge surprise or anything, but pretty recent. We should be able to get a decent offer for him though.

Be nice to get his loud mouth ass outta here anyway :) We give him too much air time like he's our team spokesman. I had to listen to Barbie Carpenter on First Take this morning on ESPN2, like wtf?! I'm so sick of ESPN picking these lower level scrubs to speak for the team.

            • Yeah good luck finding Ogletree anymore PT, he'd basically have Hurd's ****** role. We should have had a rotation...but really, we only see the top three guys.

              • Jerry really needs to solidify the Offensive Line DEPTH before the start of the season.

It's become apparent that we will once again have a strong passing attack. Therefore, we'll need to have strong pass protection from our Offensive Line. Last year, they ranked 26th in the league in pass protection. Near the top in run blocking though. I don't know if cutting Flozell will be enough to improve our pass protection enough to the point where it becomes a strength. Houck likes big OL, but I hope the ones we get today/tomorrow can be assets in the passing game. The fact that they were looking at Charles Brown gives me hope that Houck may be changing his ways...since Brown isn't the typical massive OL that Houck usually looks for.

Ogletree will get plenty of PT, no doubt about that at all. He's still going to get alot better himself and already looked great last year. He's a very good young player with a tremendous amount of support from Jerry Jones, we'll see lots of Ogletree next season and beyond.

                  • You'll know if he's changing his ways if he takes someone like Brown or Asamoah. I didnt even include Asamoah on my little big board.

Again, good luck. Hurd and Ogletree didnt see the field much with Roy Williams dropping everything thrown in his direction. And Witten/Bennett line up at WR frequently. Our 4th WR doesnt have a great role on this team. Maybe that changes, but things got much cloudier.

                      Thanks BoneKrusher^

We'll see, but you can quote me, and bookmark me on it. Ogletree won't be a huge part of the offense until he's officially the slot WR in his 3rd year, but he's going to see a huge bump in production and I'm very confident in saying so.

Of course he didn't see the field much last year, he was an UDFA and had to carve out a role. It's not point in comparing him to Hurd though.

As much as we like Hurd, how long as he been here now? Last year Ogletree was an UDFA yet he found a way to get WR screens to be run specifically for him on critical 3rd downs more then once. When have we ever drawn up plays specifically for Hurd in crucial situations?

It's very easy to look at last year and tell we have big plans for him on being more and more involved, otherwise we don't go out of our way to find a place for him to make an impact last year. I never saw him as an outside starter anyway, he's going to be our #3 and work the slot and get his chances when he can. RW will start out as the #2 with Dez as the #4, and we all know it won't be long before Dez takes the #2 WR job before long if it's a fair competition.

I expect Ogletree to be the slot WR no later then week 4 and he'll take the job and won't look back. He may even start the season out there.

                        • Are they really going to give Ogletree a larger role than Bryant, initially? I dont think so at all, they're not going to be able to keep Dez off the field. If anything, Bryant will be lining up in the slot, if we move Crayton. And the Bryant addition is going to dip into Crayton and Ogletree's reps as well, if Crayton stays. It's tough to predict because we dont know what the final core will be. But there isnt going to be a lot of reps to go around. As one of the dmn guys said earlier, you cant be too happy if you're Sam Hurd or Kevin Ogletree today.

We typically only play the top three guys...and that's Miles, Roy, and Dez. So, it's going to be tough to get others on the field. I like Ogletree, but right now...I just see him taking Hurd's role. A more prominent role on ST and a few more reps. But it doesnt look great for him right now, either. Dont get me wrong...that's just for this year, though. Because once Roy is finally gone, he can step into a much larger role, but until that happens...he'll probably be riding pine.

                          Thanks BoneKrusher^

                          • Oh Boy...

                            By Calvin Watkins
IRVING, Texas -- Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones didn't rule out the possiblity of recently cut left tackle Flozell Adams returning to the team.

Adams, released on Good Friday, started 178 of 182 games for the Cowboys since he became a second round pick in the 1998 draft.

The Cowboys have basically given Doug Free the starting left tackle spot, but Jones wouldn't mind a little insurance.

"I haven’t ruled out anything, at all," Jones said of Adams. "That's not an impossibility, but I haven’t ruled that out."

Jordan Woy, Adams' agent, said Friday night his client wants to start somewhere, "but we would not close the door without talking."
