  • On a good note, the pass rush has been really good. If that continues, we can cover for Alan Ball to a degree.

    • Maybe next year, but I couldnt see something like that happening during the season. Tyron Smith is something really special, though.

As for something else...I am so happy that Romo just had this performance. Get some of the haters off his back. Another one of those games where we probably wouldnt have been in it, without Romo. And he still would have been criticized to no end if we lost this one at the end. Playing injured or not. :/

I still have no idea what we are, though. Two weeks in, we havent learned much of anything. We just really need to get healthy...bit of a setback there today. :(

      Thanks BoneKrusher^

It depends. You're playing with fire. A couple of times I was pissed we sold out on the blitz on 3rd and longer yardages. Because when they did stop us, Ball couldnt cover ****. I didnt like how Ryan was calling the defense, initially. But the rush got better as the game wore on, luckily.

We just need to get him out of the game. lol.

Spencer, Ware, Lee, and Hatcher all played great games. Spencer looked like a man, when he wasnt getting bitched by Delanie Walker on that one TD. He had no business covering him in the first place. That's one of the problems with Ryan's defense, you'll see some bad mismatches, in favor of the offense, from time to time.

        Run defense was beast again.

        • JG has been bailed out two games in a row. The Austin run(and fumble) in this game, and the no passing on the goal line last week. Romo has been the scapegoat and the hero these two weeks.

          • I thought JG called a good game last week, but this week he got way too cute at the end. Austin was hot so they should've let him take over. A win is a win though.

            • Rob Ryan has impressed me immensely. It's a high risk high reward defense, I can live with that. If we had an elite player at every level of the defense I think you would see alot better results. Look at the Ravens or Steelers. Their CB's aren't anything to write home about but they have elite players in the right positions.

I think our front 7 is serviceable right now. I could nitpick obviously, but if we had Jenkins playing like 2 years ago, Newman playing like a year ago, and had used at least 1 pick on a safety recently(take your pick on all the ones we've passed on that are starters right now), and you would see us playing at a much higher level.

I like the chaos, confusion, Lee is a great fit for this and I have a really good feeling about Bruce Carter after seeing all the movement in our defense. There are alot of things you can do with his athleticism and speed in this defense.

              • Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that running back Felix Jones has a separated shoulder. Wide receiver Miles Austin also pulled his hamstring again and the team fears he will be out through the team’s Week Four bye.
Sigh...get Dez back...and Austin is gone:(

                  • Miles Austin has ****** hamstrings. He's fantastic, but like Dez...always banged up. It's crazy. Both physical freaks, but leg injuries just plague these two. It's maddening.

Felix may miss a decent chunk of time with a bum shoulder like that. You just never know. Some guys can play through them, some are so bad thay they end your season.

Romo played great ball...but even he'll probably be questionable next week.

                    Thanks BoneKrusher^

                    • I hope Dez isn't still limited. Otherwise were gonna end up pushing him back and he re-injurs it. I'd like to think he's fine since he did re-enter the Jets game but there is no telling if that made it worse. Were probably going to be throwing the ball alot more the next 2 weeks.

Looks like that early bye is gonna help us a ton. It'll also be interesting seeing Austin then Dez as the sole #1 WR without much help across from them.

                      • Not sure it matters with the run blocking the way it is, who's back there. We havent really gotten the screen game going w Felix either. Hopefully Dez is 100 percent next week.

                        Comment

                        • Did we even run a screen today? I dont even recall.

That double reverse to Oggs never seems to work. You hear about that failing time and time again in practice and in the preseason. And yet we bust it out here.

Also, I dont want to keep bashing Ogletree, because he has decent WR skills. But god, he is not the most intelligent or aware football player we have. He can make some boneheaded decisions out there. I still remember that play he was wide open in the end zone during preseason, and he had no idea where he was on the field.

                              • The only good thing about these injuries is that they are occurring early in the season.
