  • Tyron Smith got bitched in the 1st quarter. He didnt play his best football today, actually. He's obviously a stud in the making, though.

    Thanks BoneKrusher^

    • How many ****** snaps did Costa have tonight? ugh. They're all high or he just flips some lame duck back there, which takes forever to get to Tony. And people thought Gurode was bad at snapping.

      Thanks BoneKrusher^

      • Gurode is garbage though. Last monday vs. the jags, he didn't belong on an NFL field.

Moth, I know your a felix supporter. If murray keeps it up, would you be willing to trade him if the price is right?

        • So do we still want Rob Ryan as HC?!

          Pretty pitiful L tonight.

          • I love Murray, but I'm not drinking the koolaid yet, either. We blocked well against two of the league's worst run defenses the last two weeks. I hope we do continue to run well, we'll just have to see. I wouldnt trade Felix, though. He's still a weapon. You could put him back on Kick Return if you're rolling with Murray, and Felix could just continue the type of role he had when we ran Barber/Felix. I'd also add, that Felix's injury history doesnt help a trade stock, either.

I really dont doubt that a healthy Felix would have run all over St. Louis and this Philly D also. Everyone else has run on them this year, too. They both give up over 5 yards per carry, which is pathetic. I want to see us have some success against a decent run defending team for a change. Seattle has been beastly against the run this year, best run defense in the league...should be a great test.

              • You're going to have games like tonight where you don't match your opponent's intensity, and you get whacked. That it happened against a division rival is sickening, but it's not worth writing the season off over.

Because you have games like this during the year, it makes it crucial to close games out where you do play well enough to win. The Jets and Lions games should have been wins, and we'd be sitting pretty at 5-2.

We'll see what we do with 5 winnable games ahead of us. The team is good enough to win all 5, but could easily go 2-3 as well.

I disagree about this loss being placed on intensity, I personally believe there are some serious personel issues and some game planning issues. The Eagles won the battle of trenches on both sides of the ball which is was especially concerning on the defensive side of the ball. Ratliff was consistantly washed out of the play on cutback plays and was ineffective in pass rushing even when singled against rookie center Jason Kelce. Also, James and Brooking had no business being isolated in coverage the entire game. The play calling was not Rob's style and it was so conservative that he almost appeared to be "scared" of Jackson and Macklin.

I was waiting for Rob to dial up some pressure packages or zone blitz with a corner forcing Vick to actually read the defense, but it continued to be a cover 2 shell. EASY pickings, no way should you be torn apart by Avant and Celek.. take your chances and trust your corners on the outside.

As for the offense, the line looked terrible... Costa once again had several bad snaps, Holland was beaten several times out of the stance by speed moves in which he barely got a hand on the defender. There was some obvious sucess in the run game, but could not take advantage due to the hole the was dug.

All in all i cant see this team finishing better than 7-9 with the problems along the both sides of the line. Just some stats... other than Murray's huge game against the Rams there has only been one game this season of 100+ team rushing yards ( Washington 121 yards ) and only two others with 80 + rushing yards (Philly 84, and Det 96). Of the teams where the Cowboys rushed 75+ yards no team ranked higher that 18th in rush defense and the boys have been held under 60 yards team rushing twice this season.

Even more surprising is Dallas's #1 rush defense... Other than Philadelphia the boys have only played one top ten rushing team. (SF #6) Subtracting Philly and San Fran, the best rush offense the boys have faced to date is the Pats at #18 after that it goes down hill.. St.Louis 20th, Wash #26, Det #27, Jets, 28th.

The team is in for a bumpy ride for the rest of the season... I think Jerry has to consider getting BIGGER in the offseason. I'm hoping for Cordy Glenn on offense or Alameda Ta'amu on defense in the draft.

Good post. I forgot to point out Ratliff. He was getting man handled by KELCE. That is sad. We deactivated Josh Brent... is that a joke. If Ratliff isn't moved to DE for a true NT next off-season this defense will never take that next step.

On the bright side, Bruce Carter looks like a sexy stud in pads, no ****.

                    • Rough weekend for Rangers and Cowboys fans this weekend. I dunno... but the Rangers loss really numbed me from a lot of pain tonight. The way I look at it is we simply played bad tonight. I don't think we played our best game and got beat (the way the Rangers did). I think we just came out flat and once the game got out of hand early, the team gave up. I've been critical of the lack of leadership on this team for many years now. We have silent leaders. We need more rah rah guys who can elevate the emotion level of everyone else, especially when the chips are down. There's no fight. There's no killer instinct in this team. Sure, letting your play on the field set the example is fine, but on days like this, it isn't. Newman, Ware, Ratliff, Bradie... they don't say a peep. Witten, Austin, Felix, Kosier... same. ...and Tony... well, he's just incapable of being a real leader because he's the guy who needs to be getting the pep talks most. These silent leaders... when things go bad... instead of getting in the ears of their teammates, they sit on the sidelines and sulk. Then the rest of the team sulks. Jason Garrett has zero motivation skills. He's just a monotone robot. What's funny is that when guys like Dez and Rob Ryan try to provide an emotional spark, they are viewed in a negative light. The culture here is really sad. If they were on the Baltimore Ravens sidelines, they would become the envy of other teams. Here in Dallas, they are divas and smack talkers. lol.

The biggest problem with these Cowboys.... weak leadership. The talent is not as bad as what was on display tonight.

They need someone who is crazy out there playing with them. Someone who is going to really get in guys faces and piss them off by calling them out when they're just sitting there and taking a beating. I keep wondering if Dez could be that guy because he was just livid during the Patriots game after they failed to get that TD on the goal line at the end of the game. People were probably calling him a diva because of that, but it looked to me like he was really taking it guys for not giving a damn. They need guys like that who love to win, and just can't stand being out there not executing.

With the defense it's really painful to watch guys out there give up like that. When you rally think about it, a lot of having a great defense is about the attitude the team has to not give up anything. With the way Rob has had these guys playing with some emotion I hoped they wouldn't get blown out like that, but now I'm thinking they need that one crazy ass guy that no one wants to hear threatening people on the sideline. Crazy is a good thing in the NFL...kinda. The Cowboys are in need of some crazy.

+1. I have a major issue with Rob Ryan changing our defense from a pressure oriented mayhem style to a deep shell when facing a QB with AWFUL progressions. We played to Vick's strengths rather than his weakness I know that hindsight is 20-20 but that decision changed our defense from a actively attacking monster into a passive red-headed stepchild.

What sucks the most is the defense had us out of the game before it even got started. Murray was averaging almost 10/carry...

More so than Bennett I want to see Bruce Carter (or anyone capable of man coverage) taking ALL of Brooking and James coverage plays. They were an embarrassment in coverage and Brooking was a tackle missing machine.

No intensity, no heart, weak plan = loss.

                          • I'm very frustrated, but let's all take a deep breath and look at the big picture.

We were facing a talented team that basically had to win last night to save their season. They had an extra week to prepare and clearly made some major changes to their schemes.

We also need to remember the league is wacky. I'm sure the Saints did not think they would lose to the Rams. The Giants barely escaped a loss to the Dolphins. I'm frustrated too, but it's a long season.
