Let's hope that worst case scenario it's a high ankle sprain. Fortunately we have a little depth at CB, but it is youth.

      • Yeah, the Jenkins injury isn't good. It's a high ankle sprain, so it just might linger all season long, which is never a good thing when our star CB is getting up there in years.

        • They dont know what it is yet, exactly. This was bound to happen to someone. ughhh. Hopefully, it wont even be that bad. This is real disappointing.

In other news, the Browns cut NT/DE Shaun Smith. He's a bit of a hot head but, he's better than anything we have backing up Ratliff. And he did lose about 40 pounds so, he is dedicated. Maybe we'll bring him in to battle w/ Junior. Wouldnt be a bad pick up, although his character is a bit of a red flag.

          • Good News: Jenkins is fine, he's day to day with a mild sprain.

Bad News: Newman is down with a slight groin injury.

            Thanks BoneKrusher^

                • After finding out more about Jason Williams I can't figure out why we spent such an early pick on him. I'm fairly confident he would have been around longer. He's basically an athlete that wasn't asked to do anything other than blitz in college...

                  Why?

I still like him, but he seems more like a guy you grab mid 4

                  • Several teams were hot on him behind us...I dont think we could have waited much longer. The guy was rising quickly, DB type athleticism in a 240 pound body. We got him right around where I figured we would have. Yeah, he may not be ready, but as far as fits go...it was a perfect selection for what we needed.

I want to bring him in. Shaun Smith would be quality depth. Better than Siavii in any case IMHO.

                        • Our preseason game isnt nationally televised live on the 13th. But it will be re-aired on the NFL network at 2 A.M. ET and Noon ET on the 14th. Just a heads up.

So if you stay up late, you really dont have to wait all that long to see it. Game ends at like 1 AM ET, anyway.

                          Thanks BoneKrusher^

Yeah, well they loved him so much they decided to not try to trade up for a falling Maualuga. So we'll see who has the better career.

Sort of my line of thinking... Different players I guess. Maualuga is not the cover backer that Williams can be. That being said, Rey isn't nearly as bad as everyone made him out to be. In fact, I'd rather see Rey in coverage than Bradie and we seem content with leaving him in on 3rd down so...

Ill admit that it looks like we got some good picks with V Butler and B Williams, both of which were suspect to me when we first made the picks.

Hamlin looks to be a nice find. He was pretty much a no brainer though. Great value.

Deangelo Smith is nice depth who can play multiple spots so he's valuable. Poor man's Meriweather at this point, could end up being a similar player though.

Brewster is a wild card, but seems like a reach by all accounts.

J Williams is a project. I like his potential and I'm glad he's on the team... but again, a reach.

Stephen Hodge -- probably lifetime back up/ST, but we need a guy like him to be our "keith davis/Kevin Burnett" on special teams. Fine with that.

Mike Mickens looks like a scrub. Again, fine with taking a flier on a guy, but why not Chris Baker? Why not help out the weakest spot on the team (DL)?

Too many reaches and fliers for a team that had 12 picks. I understand adding depth and churning the roster but I would have liked to have seen us do a little more quality and a little less quantity.

Maybe 8ish picks instead? Definitely think we could have had both Rey and Jarron if we wanted to.

Loadholt has also been doing well in TC so far. Not sure where he would fit on this team but maybe Davis to LT, Columbo at RT and Loadholt at RG and release flo? I would have liked to see that, but the new contract we gave flo probably would have prevented that.

Hell, throw Loadholt at LG and let him and Leonard Davis be the 2 biggest guards in the league. With gurode at C that is some nasty power to lead the way for 3 good rb's

Whatever. Cross my fingers for the best with the guys we got.

                              • So, let us fess up, who loved Stanback when they drafted him?

There are a few of you.

Looks like he will be one of the final cuts.

McGhee will be the Stanback of 2009
