  • 53 man roster, as it stands today

What does our roster look like right now? And where is it most likely to change?

Below are the guys I fully expect to be on the roster next season:

    QB - Kitna, Orlovsky, McCown

RB - Jones, Bell, Bryson OR Calhoun (not sure if both will be there)

FB - No one currently on the roster

WR - R. Williams, Furrey, Kevin Curtis (barring a complete surprise), Drummond? (doubtful, IMO)

TE - Campbell, Fitzsimmons, (Rookie TE)

OL - Backus, Raiola, Stokes, Foster, Scott, Saipaia (or however you spell it), and a rookie or two

DL - S. Rogers, Cody, Redding, Dewayne White, K. Edwards, Jared DeVries, a rookie DE, and another DT

LB - Bailey, Sims, Lehman, Lewis, Curry, Cannon? (perhaps), and a rookie MLB

CB - S. Wilson, F. Bryant (we won't cut him now), K. Smith (though only for lack of an alternative), a rookie and a FA

S - Kennedy (unfortunatly), Holt (its 50/50 right now), J. Bullocks, Jon McGraw, and likely a rookie or FA

    Specialists - Hanson, Harris, Muhlbach

I estimate that about 38 of the 53 spots are filled at ths point.

    Thoughts?

That would have to be: (rookie or free agent), since you did that with all other situations.

Otherwise, it looks good to me.

I think they planned on listing Bryson as a Fullback..

I hope so. It seems that he'd be a great tool as a FB... and i've never liked him as a HB.

I'd rather have one True Fullback on the roster than have Bryson at all, if I have to make a choice.

KJ and Bell are not gonna be able to plow too many guys over, and our offensive line is shaky, so it'd be nice to have a good lead blocker for these guys . . .

Too bad Schlesinger is on his way out.

              Very true.

              Hmm...

              I've got nothing.

It WOULD be nice to have a powerful back on the roster though.

I think our defensive line could be scary if we get one of the stud DE's. The offensive line looks shaky, but if Foster plays guard and Scott plays RT it would be promising.

Yeah, the more I think of it, the more I wanna see Foster at Guard, and Scott at RT. We still need to take a versatile O-Lineman high in the draft though. Justin Blalock is looking awfully good right now . . . at #34?

I would love me some Blalock.

Depends on how badly we need cap space. i think that is what it comes down to. We'd probably like to give him another chance, but he will have to earn it.

If we sign McDonald AND Curtis, then he is gone. We need one of our Wideouts to be a return man too, and BMW is not that.

No Tucker and no Woody either. If that holds, we'd be down 5 starters from last year (Bly, Hall, Verba/Demullling) plus fullback and H-back.

I'd rank the units something like the following.
                          WR>RB>DL>LB>QB~OL~TE>>S>CB
